STU ELLIOTT
Had a lot of fun playing with Kev, hockey for Schindler and baseball with IUEC where he ran squarely into the outfield fence, and the fence took the worst of it I believe. My condolences to Heather and the boys.

So many people have great memories centered around Kevin.
A few of mine are being “voluntold” I would be the trainer for the Blackhawks, his bellowing voice on the bench, and his signature haircut. And who can forget the gum chewing (no one!)
RIP Kevin and my condolences to the McCanna family.

After Kevin left Schindler elevator, I didn’t see him too often but the times I did I was always greeted with a smile and a firm handshake. He had a unique personality that made you feel special every time you met. Rest in peace, my friend. My condolences to Heather, Russ, Sam And the rest of his family.

My deepest condolences.
I am absolutely lost for words.
I need to share with all of you that Kevy truely loved his wife and his boys. Him and I had various talks while carpooling to our Sunday night hockey. I can honestly say he was a great man and Father who adored his family.
Another angel was granted his wings.
Rest in peace Kevy!

Still remember our high school days at Bramalea Secondary School. A lot of laughs, one memorable suspension and a whole lot of great times.
Rest peacefully
The Halket Family
Kevin, a man whose heart was as warm as his smile, will be deeply missed by the Halket bunch. His face would just light up talking about his family. A genuinely kind heart.
He would often call Adam to catch up and ask “how’s MY wife and kids doing”. Forever an inside joke.
“Direct” Christmas parties were always a blast when Kevin was around, filling the room with joy, laughter, and those slick moves that somehow made every moment brighter.
He will be deeply missed by all.
Jonelle
Heather, Sam & Russ, we hope that during this difficult time there is some comfort in knowing that Kevin left a legacy larger than life. The lessons he taught all the players and the families who had the privilege of being on the Blackhawks team are lessons that I am confident in saying, set a strong foundation for all of the boys. He taught us all that while winning is important (and boy did we win A LOT), how you play and how you behave is more important. He exemplified hard work, dedication, teamwork & most importantly.. respect! We are so sorry for your loss, sending love and prayers.
Coach Kevin – you will truly be missed!

I was fortunate to have known Kevin for over 35 years, starting back in our Schindler Elevator days. We shared a lot of great memories and laughs over the years, and I always valued his friendship and easygoing nature. I’ll never forget the times we spent together in Florida — fishing, golfing, and just enjoying life. Kevin was one of the good ones, and he’ll be greatly missed.

For anyone that knew him its nothing new but if you didn’t he was honest and true. Always reached to call consistently; spoke of his wife and Sons and family all the while with great pride. Concerned with doing a job at work. Loved life and told you like it is

I have fond memories of our times together. Our joint admiration for Stephen King novels, though we differed on music taste especially you with Bruce Springsteen. Our Christmas Eve food fight when you sprayed whipped cream up my nose and you laughed so hard when I told you I smelled sour milk for a week. Good times, we were the outlaws. You are missed mate. You will live on through your boys! Condolences to your amazing family.

Kevin and I started in the trade around the same time and worked on jobs while at Dover elevator. Thought the years i would run into him and during those times I realized that he was a person of great integrity, he never changed as a person; solid character- a genuine good guy.
Christine and I extend our deepest condolences to Heather, Sam , Russ and his entire family.

Heather Sam and Russ
My deepest condolences to your family in this difficult time.
Kevin dedicated an enormous amount of time to coaching the Blackhawks. I have so many wonderful memories of our time with Kevin on his team. From the bench staff shaving their heads after our first Championship to “smuggling” the trophy out of the Brampton arena after winning our 2nd (and back to back) Championship. I know the parents enjoyed their time as much as the boys did with Coach Kevin.
RIP Kevin

Heather, Sam, Russ,
Sending my deepest condolences. It’s hard to put into words what Coach Kevin meant to all of us who were lucky enough to play hockey for him growing up.
Coach believed in hard work and loyalty — values he passed on to every one of his players. I’ll never forget one of his favourite sayings: “Hard work makes heroes.” It wasn’t just something he said during practice; it was how he lived his life. His pre-game speeches were legendary, and he could make a room of young boys believe they were unstoppable. He talked about heart, about playing with pride, and about having each other’s backs. Those lessons stuck with us long after the final buzzer.
We were so lucky to have him in our lives. Rest easy, Coach Kevin. And thank you for everything.
Peter Cox
Kevin joined our old timers hockey team a couple of years ago upon moving up north. We were all strangers at the time but we quickly became friends. When Kevin joined our team we soon realized that he was not only a great hockey player but a great guy as well. We will miss him on the ice but more importantly in the dressing room and wing nights where we would chat and laugh about hockey and life. This year I will be cheering for the Red Wings!
My sincere condolences to Kevin’s family!
Sharon Johnston
Dear Heather and family- I am so sorry to hear of Kevin’s passing. Cancer is such a terrible disease to go through!
We have fond memories of times together in Brampton especially when poor Douglas would get harassed by Kevin And Rob–all in fun of course. He said it made him more tolerant.
It is hard to go on without your partner as i can attest to but you are a strong lady and you have your boys to help you out.
Please take care of yourself and give my love to your Mom.
Love Sharon,Leanne and Douglas

Sheralyn Roman
Dear Heather, Russ and Sam, and to your extended family,
Kevin truly was a “larger than life” individual and our time as a member of the Blackhawks family is treasured deeply to this day. I wrote a column last week that we owe a deep debt of gratitude to people like Kevin who gave so freely of their time, energy, skill and devotion by coaching Caledon kids. Coaches are true unsung heroes and with Kevin in particular I recall not just the hockey, but the other things he taught the boys like holding a door open, removing ballcaps when dining out and shaking hands. Old school, good, common courtesy values along with all the good hockey stuff. He was a devoted Dad and partner and taken far too young. The Roman family extends their sincerest condolences to all of you and pray that eternal rest be granted and your memories bring a smile to your faces even as you grieve. Heather, Sam, Russ,
I am so sorry for your loss. Kevin was such an impactful leader for myself and everyone he coached on that Blackhawks team. I echo everything his former players have mentioned below; It was an absolute pleasure to play on his team and his lessons extended far beyond the rink, shaping who we are as people. I’m forever grateful for the time I spent with him. Sending my deepest condolences to you all. Rest in peace, Kevin.

Heartfelt condolences to Heather, Sam, and Russ on the passing of Kevin, a wonderful father, husband, teammate, and dear friend. Kevin was an incredible person to be around, always uplifting, optimistic, and full of life.
On the ice, he motivated us with his determination and team spirit, never giving up until the final whistle.
Off the ice, whether sharing spirited conversations, a post-game beverage, or a laugh, Kevin’s camaraderie and warmth lit up every gathering.
On the golf course, he brought the same drive and determination to compete and play his best, making every round memorable with his energy and good humor.
His passing leaves a hole in our hearts, and he will be dearly missed.

Many memories are flooding back from our years at BSS. Kevin was always such a fun guy to be around (something about a stage and a suspension comes to mind!). Heather, I can remember the great times we shared at the McCanna house, in the pool and at Christmas parties. May those happy memories and many more help you through this difficult time. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting your boys, I’m confident they had an awesome dad who will be tremendously missed. Keith, Kelly and Bob, my thoughts are with you during this time. Kevin, you will be missed. RIP
