Harold George Barker

July 30, 2026 By Egan Funeral Home Leave A Condolence

Barker web

Harold George Barker of Bolton, Ontario passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Born in Weston (Albion) on March 19,1931, Harold was the third child of Percival“Percy” and Sarah “Sadie” (Farr) Barker and brother to Keith, Jean and Ross. Harold attended Weston Collegiate and Vocational School before devoting his life to farming. Harold married Norma Torrance in 1957. They settled on the farm off Hwy. 27 in Woodbridge and started a family. Devoted to each other, Harold and Norma were married for 68 years until Norma’s passing in March. Her passing left a deep void in his life.

Harold was a loving husband, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his four children Lynne Elliott (Roger), Carol Foutz (Brian), Joy Barker Mallek (Jay), and Steven Barker (Joanne), grandchildren Jim Elliott (Carmen), Carolyn Rygiel (Tom), Joanna Brown (BJ), Kevin Elliott (Michelle), Bethany Foutz Popham (Nick), Daniel Foutz (Laine), James Mallek, Kayla Barton (Dan), Karissa Barker, Jess Duff (Patrick), and Jacob Barker. Harold was the proud great-grandfather of 15 great-grandchildren with more eagerly anticipated. Harold is preceded in death by his loving wife, parents, brothers, sister, his grandson, Jack Mallek, and his great-granddaughter, Callie Popham.

Harold had a gentle and committed faith. He was a member of Nashville Road Community Church, formerly Calvary Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and youth leader with teens, in Awana, and Christian Service Brigade. Known for his kindness and generosity, Harold was often found helping others in practical ways: helping people move, providing transportation, handyman tasks, sharing a meal, or offering a place to stay.

Harold loved to laugh and was quick to tease and find inventive (some might say, ‘mischievous’) ways to have fun. He was passionate about the outdoors, the cottage, hunting and fishing, freely recounting memories of those times. Harold loved and was proud of his children and their families, often remarking how he was fortunate to have such a talented family. Harold will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50) Bolton (905-857-2213) on Thursday morning, August 6, 2026, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service in the chapel at 11:30 a.m. Reception to follow service.
