Gillespie Web Picture

Unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, Jamie Kenneth Gillespie of Bolton, at the age of 52 years, beloved husband of Svetlana Fetterly.  Loving father of Madigan Gillespie and Emelia Gillespie.  Cherished son of Kenneth and Anne (née Burritt) Gillespie.  Dear brother of Christopher and his wife Lisa Gillespie, Deanna (deceased) and her husband Greg Leno, Shane Gillespie and his wife Shanna Brindley.  Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Claire, and Ethan Gillespie, Sypher, and Jovie Leno, Corbin Gillespie.  Jamie will be greatly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and by his entire in-law family.

Jamie dedicated his entire working career, 31 years, to public service.  He served with both the Kitchener Waterloo Police Services and then with the Ontario Provincial Police, most recently in the role of Sergeant.  Jamie valued his position and took his role very seriously.  During his career, he participated on specialized response teams such as a Dive team and a Provincial Task Force, both dedicated to search and rescue missions.  His efforts and commitments were acknowledged with accolades of achievement and bravery on various occasions. We honor Jamie and give thanks to him for his commitment to his family, his job, and to the communities he served. May he now be at peace.

Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of Jamie’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Elora Ontario on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 2pm – 5pm.  Speeches will begin at 3:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either Boots On The Ground – www.bootsontheground.ca or Wounded Warriors Canada – www.woundedwarriors.ca

I was shocked and saddened to hear the news. I worked and socialized with Jamie in the mid 90’s. His commitment, integrity and big heart made him one of the better and more trustworthy police officers I ever worked with. One of the good guys. He leaves a great legacy, fit to be proud of. My sincere condolences.

My deepest Condolence for the Family, Jamie was an excellent person. Revelation 21 :4 And will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.

I worked with Jamie for his first 10 years of policing in Kitchener. From day 1 he was one of the most upbeat people I had met, and i was sorry to see him leave for the OPP, but they were better for having him. He was a dedicated police officer, colleague and friend, and was part of the glue that held P3 together. I was overwhelmed sadness when I heard this news.
He will be deeply missed by all.
My sincere conditions to his family, friends and fellow officers.
