Brad Evaschuk, born on April 1, 1969, passed away suddenly on February 14, 2025. He is deeply missed by his children Harlee and Koda, as well as his stepson Jack. His sister Dana, brother-in-law Rick, niece Merrill, and nephew Jasper also greatly mourn his loss as well as numerous cousins and close friends. Brad was predeceased by his mother in 2022 and his father in 2023, he now joins them “on the other side” as he would say.
Brad was raised in Bolton, Ontario, where he was a very active in all sports, particularly hockey and baseball. In his late teens he was drafted to the Toronto Blue Jays minor league system and played for the St. Catherines and Medicine Hat Blue Jays until injury ended his career. He then followed his fathers’ footsteps and became a firefighter for several years. Although Brad lost his way for a few years he was able to get back on track and was in the process of starting his own business in his final years.
Raised in the country, Brad had a passion for fishing, hunting and all things outdoors. He loved his trips to British Columbia with his children to visit his family and especially enjoyed visiting the wilderness lodge owned by his sister and brother-in-law, where he will be laid to rest for eternity. He also enjoyed music and had a passion for playing the guitar.
Known for his large stature and friendly demeanor, Brad was loved and admired by many and was seen as a big softy who cared very deeply about those he loved. Sadly, his big heart failed him on Valentine’s Day, of all days.
A Ceremony of Life will be held at the Alliston Legion Branch 171 on Saturday, June 28, 2025. There will be a private dinner prior to doors opening at 6:30 to everyone. A slideshow and speeches honouring Brad will take place at 7 PM. Cash Bar.
At your choosing, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation heartandstroke.ca or a charity of your choice.

As time has passed it’s still difficult to believe that the gentle giant has passed. I remember many adventures with Brad and the Bolton “ gang” crossing the countryside playing baseball representing our little town of Bolton. Brad will be sorely missed.

I have some very found memories of Brad growing up. I spent a lot of time at the Evaschuk house, we really did have some fun times back then! Brad and I have kept in touch through the years and it’s hard to believe he’s gone. My deepest condolences to Dana and family and to all the kids who I have had the pleasure of getting to know over the years. My thoughts are with you and I send love to you all. I will see you all in June so we can celebrate his life. Cheers Brad “see you on the other side” xx

Still so heartbreaking to think of Brad’s passing. Your brother’s memory deserves to be cherished by all who knew and loved him, so while it’s a sad time, I’m happy to know there’ll be a good send-off in his honour with lots of love and laughter ❤️

Growing up, across the street, from the both of you….I’m heartbroken that Brad is gone..I’ve always looked up to him, Being the younger, shy kid.. I remember when he would ask , Could he pitch some balls to me…I of course, said sure….I can’t tell you how much I regret doing so, He had so much power in his pitches..Brad taught me a lot….I have always thought of him as a brother figure in my life, His Mother, Father and sister were a huge part of my life Growing up. This leaves a huge hole in my heart and they all are truly missed.

I had the pleasure of being Brad’s hockey coach when he played midget hockey in Bolton . He was quite a character as a young man and we were pleased to be associated with him . My sincere condolences to his family .

A beautiful tribute Dana. I taught Brad in grade 6 and that was the same year I had my first child who was due in March 27th. Brad insisted baby would be born April 1st. The first day back from hospital.. a knock on my door. “Told you… April 1st!”. There stood Brad with a couple of little friends…. grinning ear to ear.. eyes sparkling with mischief and triumphant. A precious memory. May your memories of his big personality help comfort you at this time. Sending love and kind wishes.

Very sad to hear about Brad’s passing. We worked together at Stn #114 and it was always a laugh. He was such a mountain of a man with a quiet disposition. A job filled with unknowns and dangerous situations he was “cool”and confident. He was a dependable firefighter at a fire scene and his strength and power was a huge asset at times. I was 5’7” and muscular and he was 6’something…and massive. We shared many sports tales and family stories. A really easy guy to shoot the sh@t with share ideas. His appetite was second to none. He needed to constantly feed that body so he would bring in a fishing tackle cooler sized box filled with pre-cooked meals with lots of meat (chicken& fish). Sometimes a small roast beef roast cut in half, one part for lunch the other for dinner with 2 baked potatoes and veg. I will miss this giant of a man and can honestly say” it was my pleasure to have worked with you Big Guy”! RIP Bradley

My condolences to the family. Brad spent many hours working out at my gym in Rexdale he would slap 500 pounds on the bench press and bang off 8 to 10 reps like it was nothing it was something to see. Not only a weightlifter we also did a little karate and some boxing the big guy was strong and a natural athlete who could also use his dukes a dangerous combination when you’er 6.5 and 240 pounds but the big guy was a gentleman and a pleasure to be around. Rest in peace Brad you will be missed.
