For Dad

My candle burns at both ends
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends –
It gives a lovely light.

Theo Brandts, our wonderful and precious dad, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 at the fine age of 91. His passing is greatly mourned by all who knew him. He was a wonderful father to his 5 daughters and devoted husband of Ina, who shared his life with a trust and greatness of spirit, survivors of the World War II and occupation of Holland, they spent time in Indonesia while Theo worked as a chemical engineer, director of forestry research, prior to immigrating to Canada half a century ago where he continued his work in pulp and paper research. He and Ina lived in Caledon these past 35 years and his passing is felt by many who live here.
All through his life he had a passion for art and music and was an exceptionally gifted painter. His insightful intellect, courage and moral strength inspired all who knew him.
He is lovingly remembered by his family, brothers and sister overseas, his children and grandchildren and many friends who loved him throughout his long and beautiful life.
