October 10, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rodney (Rod) Stone, who passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, surrounded by his family at Sunnybrook Medical Sciences Centre in Toronto.
Rod was the beloved husband of Sarah for over 33 wonderful years and a devoted father to his cherished son, Gavin, whom he loved tremendously.
Rod dedicated 30 years of his career to Air Canada, where his passion for the airline industry shone through in everything he did. His commitment, enthusiasm, and professionalism left a lasting impact on those he worked with.
A proud Vancouver Canucks fan — “Go Canucks Go!”— Rod celebrated every win with pride and spirit and was sure to let everyone know when they won a game, though he could be a little harder to find after a tough loss. His love for hockey extended beyond the rink as a fan — Rod spent a few years coaching with the Caledon Hawks, where he relished every moment mentoring his son and his teammates and proudly ending their teen hockey years with an OMHA win.
Rod was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Joan Stone. He will be deeply missed by his brother Nicholas; nephews Keith and Michael Stone, his in-laws Liz and John Curnow; sister- and brother-in-law Louise Curnow and Andy Groom; and nephew Nick Curnow (Tara); and great-nieces and nephews Chloe, Miranda, and Leo.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 19, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Glen Eagle Golf Club, 15731 Peel Regional Rd. 50, Bolton.

Sarah and Gavin,
Sending lots of love to you. It’s been some time since playing hockey with Gavin in Caledon, but I certainly have clear memories of Rod at the rink. Such a calm and nice man. Always gave a smile through the glass when we skated by.
