Robert John Hodgson, 67, passed away peacefully at Bethell Hospice in Inglewood, Ontario with family by his side on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
Originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Robert moved to Toronto for work where he established a successful career in concrete formwork until his passing. Robert’s success in this industry was brought on through his tenacity, his curiosity, and his quick wit. Always knowing the right thing to say and able to get himself into and out of trouble.
You could see Rob’s curiosity in the way he interacted with the whole world. It was easy to get caught up in conversation with him about history, current affairs, the meaning of life, and all things nature related. He was a movie lover, an outdoor enthusiast, and had a love of music ranging from Celine Dion to AC/DC and was able to share this love with his family and friends.
He prided himself on being a leader, dependable, and able to provide for his girls. With heavy hearts we say bye for now, but we are left knowing that he has provided us the skills and strength we need to face the world.
Son of the late John and Georgina, he is survived by Barbara and his children Caitlin (Chad), Britania and his nephew Justin (Jenn). Son-in law of Barbara and the late Richard. Oldest brother of Gerald (Joy), Steve, Karen (Russell), late Glenn and Jim (Fran). Brother-in-law of Fran (Henry) and Jenny (John). Uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.
Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 11:00 am, followed by a reception.
Interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Sault Ste. Marie at a later date.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the support that has been provided during this time. All visits, every phone call, and the kind messages have all meant so much.
Donations to Bethell Hospice or a charity of your choice are appreciated by the family.
