Pandora Vodouris

December 6, 2024 By Egan Funeral Home 81 Condolences

Vodouris New Web

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of an exceptional woman, Pandora Vodouris, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, godmother, and cherished friend to many.

Pandora passed peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, December 5th, 2024. Pandora Vodouris, beloved wife of the late Bill Vodouris. Loving mother of George (Rhonda), and Helen (Chris); and a loving grandmother to Jessica, Kristina, Erika, Spiro, and Alexia.

Born in Agia Paraskevi, Greece in 1933, Pandora immigrated to Canada with her parents, Alexandros and Chrisanti; her brothers, John, Petro, and Pando; and her sister Magda.  The family settled in Toronto, where they worked tirelessly to establish themselves in a new country. In 1957 Pandora married her husband Bill, and together they embarked on a new chapter in their lives. Shortly after, in 1969 the two established the Wishbone Restaurant, a staple of the community. Remarkably, 56 years later, it remains a cherished family-owned business.

She had an endless love for her family, a passion for gardening, and a talent for cooking that brought joy to everyone around her. She cherished spending time with family and friends at the restaurant, creating memories filled with laughter and love.

Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love touched everyone who knew her, leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting legacy of love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Rest in peace, Pandora.  We Love you.

The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen St. S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Tuesday from 2 – 8 o’clock and on Wednesday morning, December 11 from 10 o’clock until time of funeral service in the chapel at 11 o’clock

Entombment Glendale Memorial Gardens, 1810 Albion Road, Etobicoke.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation (supportthepmcf.ca).

Condolences for the family may be offered at www.EganFuneralHome.com.

Peter and June Tarkalas and family.
We would like to offer our condolences to Helen, Chris, George, Rhonda and family. Pandora was a wonderfully kind woman and I know she will be sorely missed. May she rest in peace and I know she is up there with Bill now. In reflection I realize that five generations of my family have enjoyed eating at the Wishbone. From my grandmother Sotira and grandfather Pando, who were first cousins to Bill, to my parents Paul and Fannie, our children Alex and Athena who, when they were growing up, the only fish they would ever eat was the Wishbone’s fish and chips on a Friday night, and to our grandchildren, Austin and Hannah.
Good night Pandora. Your life on this world has left it a better place for all of us.

To George and Helen, I was saddened to hear of your mother’s passing. Both me and my sister Debbie worked at the Wishbone and had the absolute pleasure of working with Pandora and your father Bill. My daughter fondly remembers “chicken on the bun with sauce on the side” of her youth. Your family became our family and for that we thank Pandora. When my Mom and sisters came to visit a few years ago we made the point to visit at the Wishbone and catch up with Pandora and Helen. I am so glad we had the chance. Love you and know that your loss is felt by many.

I will deeply miss Pandora. I wasn’t able to see her for quite some time, but she always spoke of me to Helen, about how well she thought of me. She uplifted my spirits when I felt down, and I miss her being in the kitchen. Pandora created a place where I was able to grow up for the last 8 years with a second family; who has always met me with empathy, support, and understanding. To this day, Wishbone remains the most lovely place I have ever worked. Pandora was such a strong and joyful woman, creating home and happiness wherever she went.

Helen, Chris and family. We are so sorry to read this right now.
Your mom was a bright light for everyone who visited your restaurant. Either working in the back or welcoming people at the front. She will be missed.
May you find comfort eventually knowing she’s resting in peace now. Keep the memories and stories close to your hearts – she will be with you always.
Sending you all our deepest condolences.

Dearest Helen and family, our sincerest condolences on the passing of your mother. She always had a smile on her face when she would wave to us walking past your home. It was a pure delight in having Pandora as our neighbour for thirty-one wonderful years. Once again, our sincerest condolences.

    Dear George and Helen,
I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom Pandora. She was a beautiful lady and great friend and second mother to me when I was working at the Wishbone. I always had respect for your Dad and Mom and how hard they both work. I often think of your Mom remembering some of our joking around and how much fun we had, especially when your Dad would look at your mom and I and just shook his head. I will miss her dearly.
My thoughts and prayers are with you both and your family. ❤️

    Love Debbie (Ramage) Godin

Dear Helen, Chris and family, I am so very sorry to hear, only today, of the passing of your beloved mom. It seems unbelievable that we first met back in 1972 when we first moved into the community and neighbours told us we “must go to the restaurant over on the corner!”, your wonderful Wishbone. Your mom was one of the first to greet us, and always there, with a smile, over all the years since. She kept my George happy with her liver and bacon dinners.
Moms are always supposed to be with us. I firmly believe your mom will always be there watching over you. We will all hold you in our hearts and prayers as you begin this “next chapter” in your life, as she has begun her’s in her new heavenly home. God be with you all. Big hugs and love. Joyce

Big hugs Helen and family. Your Mom was such a lovely lady! Thinking of you during this difficult time. The wishbone ladies were so much fun and your Mom was the light of the restaurant! So happy to have your family especially your Mom welcome us to dinner like it was home!!
    Take care
    Jo-Anne Farr and family xo
