Margaret Elaine De Franco, at 80 years of age, of Bolton, Ontario, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, surrounded by family.
Elaine was born on January 9, 1946, in Nova Scotia to Daniel and Mary Eleanor Lloyd. She graduated from Westville High School and built a long and respected career as an Accounting Manager in a male-dominated field where she was known for her determination, diligence, and strong work ethic.
Elaine was also a cancer survivor and later became a public speaker, receiving recognition and awards for her talks on cancer awareness, where she inspired others through her honesty and strength.
She was actively involved in her community throughout her life, including her participation in the Kinettes and TOPS, where she formed lasting friendships and was deeply valued for her commitment and kindness.
Elaine had a strong creative spirit and a deep love for home. She was an avid gardener and her beautifully kept gardens in Palgrave were admired by many who passed by. She also enjoyed sewing and was a talented cook and baker, especially known for her cakes, which were made with care for family celebrations.
Above all, Elaine’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished her role as a grandmother and shared a very close bond with her granddaughters, whom she loved deeply and delighted in spoiling. Her family was the centre of her world.
Elaine is survived by her two children, Maria (David) and Joseph, and her three granddaughters, Sabrina, Cameron, and Chloe. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Donato De Franco.
She will be remembered for her generosity, her love of conversation, her kindness, her affection for animals, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, resilience, and love.
She will be missed by her siblings, brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and the many friends who were fortunate to know her.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South (Hwy 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Wednesday morning, June 3rd from 10:30 am until time of funeral service in the chapel at 11:00 am.

How do you say goodbye to someone like Aunt Elaine? She was not only my aunt, but also a dear friend. We shared so many wonderful memories together. She was easy to talk to, always had a story to tell, and could always make me laugh.
One of my most treasured recent memories was when Aunt Elaine and I traveled together to visit my mom. We shared such good times on that trip, just as we always did. She treated me as more than a niece—she loved me deeply, and I felt that in so many ways.
When my husband died, she was there for me with comfort, love, and support when I needed it most. That is something I will never forget.
I will truly miss her, her stories, her laughter, and the love she gave so freely. Goodbye, Aunt Elaine. You will always hold a special place in my heart.
