With hearts full of love and gratitude we celebrate the life of a remarkable woman- Joanne Dwyer. Born June 22, 1957 to Anatolia and Luigi Passa and who passed peacefully on December 4, 2025.
She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband of 44 years, Phil, a deeply loving mother to her son Edward (and wife Joanna) and her daughter Sara (and husband Richard), and a proud, adoring grandmother to Axel, Max, Amelia, and Hailey—each of whom brought her immeasurable joy.
She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings and their spouses: Tony and Glenda, Cathy and Bruno, and Lily and Paul, along with many extended family members and friends who were touched by her kindness and warmth.
For many years she worked as an administrative assistant at Westview Centennial Secondary School, where she was known for her dedication, reliability, and steady presence for 38 years.
Above all else, she was a woman defined by love—love for her family, love for the simple joys of life, and love freely given to those around her. Her laughter, her care for others, and her compassion will be remembered always.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in the lives she shaped, the family she loved, and the memories that will forever be held close.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South (Hwy 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Thursday morning, December 11th from 10:00 a.m. until time of the celebration of Joanne’s life at 11:30 a.m.

I have been friends with Phil and Joanne for many years, through many get togethers, meals and poker games and Joanne always had a smile on her face, but never when she was being serious at the poker table. She was the heart of Westview—an office administrator and secretary who ran the school with kindness, efficiency, and a genuine love for every student and staff member. Her warm smile and presence made the front office a place of comfort and connection. She didn’t just keep the school running; she helped build a community, making each of us feel valued and supported. For me, she was a constant source of encouragement and comfort, someone who made even the hardest days feel manageable. She never treated her work as a job; she treated it as a way to care for people. She will always be a part of the Westview story.

Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of our dear Joanne. I am still in shock over this heartbreaking news. Joanne and I worked in the same building for 12 years, and she was my go-to person in the office when I first began my teaching career at Westview Centennial Secondary School. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support touched countless lives, including my own. Joanne will be remembered always with gratitude and great affection. I had the privilege of working with Joanne at Westview for almost 30 years. She was a source of support, joy, and laughter through all the years that I knew her. Staff and students alike knew they could count on her to do the right thing efficiently and kindly. I am devastated to hear of her passing. My sincere condolences to her family.
Maria Palermo
Joanne was the first person to welcome me to Westview as a teacher. She was incredibly supportive during my years as a teacher and later when I returned as a Vice-Principal. I recall, with fondness, our many conversations about our families. She loved to tell stories about Edward and Sara and was one the first people I called after welcoming our first born. Joanne was one of a kind. Her quiet leadership, kindness, and ability to find calm in the midst of chaos were deeply appreciated by all that worked with her at Westview. I learned a lot from her and am grateful that I had the privilege of knowing her. My deepest condolences to her family.
Catherine Barratt
Joanne was not only the pillar of Westview, she also personified what education is all about: equity, compassion, dedication, love and resilience.
I was graced to have started my career working with her and I like to think she had positively influenced me to be the person, friend, educator and daughter I am today.
Thank you Joanne for sharing your smiles, laughter and wicked sense of humour. Thank you for opening your heart to Sydney, your Chi-Russell.
My sincerest condolences to Phil, Sara and Eddie – I can still fondly recall the love and pride on Joanne’s face whenever she spoke of you.
Our thoughts are with you all. I will forever be thankful that I got to work with Joanne. Her legacy will continue in all of us as that’s how special she was to the Westview community.
Marie Theberge
