In Loving Memory of Duane “Ozzy” Laver
December 6, 1965 – May 24, 2025
We are heartbroken to share Duane’s passing. He left us too soon, but surrounded by love, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was a son deeply loved by those who went before him. He was a proud father who loved his son with everything he had. He held an eternity of love for his one and only, the mother of his son and step children, who he cherished as his own. He was a treasured brother and confidant to his sisters. He was a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews, and a loyal friend. His love for family ran deep- it was the heart of who he was.
Music and sports were his languages of connection. He had a passion for music and often found comfort in his favorite songs. A lifelong Leafs fan, he followed the team with heart and hope, season after season- often sharing the highs and lows with those he loved most. He lived simply, loved fully, and gave quietly. His sharp wit and sense of humour will be missed more than words can say.
Though he’s gone, his spirit lives on – in every story, every laugh, every puck drop, and every song that brings him to mind. When the Stanley Cup is raised this season, we’ll be raising a cup to him.
As Ozzy Osbourne once sang, “I’m just a dreamer, who dreams of better days.” He carried hope with him through life’s hardest moments and never gave up his fight.
Though we had to say goodbye for now, his memory stays with us. “I’ll see you on the other side,” the song goes- and we hold onto that promise, with a love that will never fade.
Oz,
Your song is one that lives on in our hearts,
and we will sing its melody-
always.
With love,
Your friends and family
