In Loving Memory of Doreen Ellen Patterson
May 11, 1944 – May 4, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, Doreen Ellen Patterson, who died peacefully at home on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
Doreen was the devoted wife and life companion of 61 years to George (“Ted”) Patterson. She was an outstanding mother to Ron, Brenda, Allan (Gina), David (Raquel), and Charlene (Andrew); and a doting grandmother to Jocelyn, Holly (Adam), Colin, Sherri, Sydney (John), Madison, Ashley, Meghan, Emily, Morgan, Liam, Andrew, Kate and Laura. She was predeceased by her grandson P.J. She was a loving sister to Barbara (Clint) and was predeceased by siblings Cyril Junior (June) and Linda (Mike). She was the daughter of the late Cyril and Eloise Fagin.
Doreen met her soulmate Ted in high school. They married soon after and settled in Palgrave, Ont., where they raised their family. Nurturing, mothering and caregiving were always at the heart of Doreen’s life. With five children, she was constantly on the move—whether chasing them around or worrying where they were. When not with her children, she could be found baking in the kitchen, quilting, meeting with her fellow “hookers” (rug-hooking group), cheering in local arenas as a proud hockey mom, or enjoying time around the campfire at Sauble Beach.
As Nana, Doreen poured her love into the next generation. Her home was always open, filled with warmth, homemade meals and stories rich in laughter and life lessons. She created an abundance of memories with her grandchildren that will be forever treasured.
Though we grieve her loss, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with Ted, who passed away in February 2022. Doreen leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and family. Her values, traditions and recipes will live on through her children and grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to all of the caregivers who supported Doreen over the years. Because of you Doreen was able to stay at home due to your dedication. Thank you for your kindness and comfort.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen St. S. I met Doreen and Ted when my Son Andrew met Doreen’s daughter Charlene,
Doreen and Ted were an ideal couple that displayed love and kindness after their many years of family life together.

Dear Ron, Brenda, Allen, David , Charlene & families.
I got to know this lovely smiling lady when I became your regular babysitter. Looking after five children could be a
daunting task. You were all well behaved & your mom was well organized with a list of bedtimes.
Doreen was an awesome baker . Her delicious goodies could be found at the bake sales in Palgrave.
My love & prayers in the days & weeks to come .

Jim and I played many card games with Doreen and Ted (Doreen and I usually cheated) which resulted in many laughs. We also shared a trip to Branson in our motorhome which was so much fun with Doreen and I continuing our capers. She was a wonderful friend and I will continue to miss her – not to mention her baking! She made me a quilt and I think of her every time I use it. A tear is being shed as I write this – forever gone but not forgotten. ❤️❤️

I have many happy memories of times we spent bowling with the Palgrave bowling group
