It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dirk Gordon Blakely on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Born October 11, 1950 in Weston, Ontario to Gordon and Gerry Blakely (Defrenne). Dirk is survived by his siblings Linda (Jerry) Johnston, Steven (Theresa) Blakely and Chris (Joy) Blakely. He was also a much-loved Uncle to Melanie Belder, Matthew and Jonathon (Shannon) Blakely, Ashley and Amber Blakely. As well as his great nephews and nieces Brad (Rachel) and Kyle Belder, Lillith and Lenora Blakely and even a great great niece Brynlee Belder-Bridges. Also lovingly remembered by many cherished friends that have crossed Dirk’s path including Tony, Lloyd and Berni.
Dirk was a kind-hearted, gentle person, a devoted sports fan with a special fondness for the Toronto Raptors, Blue Jays and Maple Leafs, watching all the games and even attending a few. He also enjoyed golf, Olympics and Nascar. His greatest happiness in life, was spending time with family, going on outings or trips, always with a Timmie’s in hand. Dirk loved music of all genres, he would often sing or join in with others. In his younger years Dirk enjoyed gardening and the outdoors, he also took a keen interest in cars and machinery.
The family would like to convey our gratitude to the management and staff at BCCL for their unwavering dedication to Dirk’s care over the years. The staff have created a supportive setting that encourages growth and personal development within the community. Over the years, Dirk has established numerous friendships while residing on Schubert and Mansion Street in Brampton.

We are heartbroken and saddened by the passing of Dirk. He was a great friend to Don and I and growing up with him and all he was able to do and participate in. We are astonished that he lived his life to the fullest and touched all of us. He loved his Canadian sports teams and is a true Canadian. He loved his family. Made wonderful friends. Loved his Tim’s coffee. He will be missed. Rest in Peace. Love you always.❤️

Dirk’s family and friends. I offer my condolences at this time. One of my fondness memories of Dirk was when Dirk and his roommates Guy, Roy and I took the train to Montreal to see the Montreal Expos play.
Even way back then Dirk was an avid fan of sports.
His love of flowers and gardening was inherited from his parents.
I remember when Dirk was living at Schubert when his mom and dad came and helped us plant a tree in the front yard.
Dirk was a great man and will think of the good times we had.
