I moved to this lovely little community in August of 2020 and immediately Chuck was there to introduce himself, welcome me and offer his assistance. He became a dear and treasured friend.
In the relatively short time I knew Chuck I can say that he was truly one of a kind. A humble, kind, and selfless man who was always there to offer help and support. He was a great friend who gave generously of his time and treated our little community with so much dedication and devotion. We will certainly miss him and feel his absence in many ways.
One of the last jobs Chuck and I did was cleaning up the ravine this past summer. It was hard work but we chatted and had a few laughs while we worked. Once the job was completed we sat and had a beer, he regaled me with stories of his piloting days and some of his adventures. The man surely was interesting and had an interesting life.
I am deeply saddened by Chuck’s passing and send my sincere and heartfelt condolences to Silvana and all of the family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
I am thankful we got to cross paths. He will be missed.

Dear Sil. I have fond memories of the times we spent together with Chuck. The night you and Chuck met, adventures at the cottage, an ice bar in Moscow, a flight to the Caribbean and much more. My deepest condolences.

My deepest condolences to Silvana and her family. I moved here in 2023 and Chuck came by my home to introduce himself to me and my kids. He gave me the comfort of knowing I had someone I can reach out to when I had a question with my home. His reminders to prep my home for the winter….always around lending a hand. Feeling a little lost right now. Thank you chuck for keeping an eye out on me and my family. It was like having a dad around. Gonna miss seeing you around the complex. Wednesday morning hustle to get my garbage out on time and hearing you say with a laugh, you’re always the last one here Fran! Fly high Chuck! See ya around xoxo love Francesca Nicholas and Vanessa…gonna miss ya

There are people who, once they appear, remain in your life forever, even if they’re not physically present every day. Chuck was that for me—a professional in his field, a senior colleague, and simply a wonderful man, husband to a beautiful woman with happy eyes— which is exceptionally man’s achievement. I’m grateful that our paths crossed.
Fly high, Captain Montgomery!
Thank you!

The obituary. Chuck.
Hello, my dear and most beloved captain! You decided to leave, and now I have no hope that we will ever see each other in Moscow, which you have come to love.…
You know, I feel like I remember every flight we took, every vacation we had, and every weekend we spent together. No matter how long I worked in civil and business aviation, YOU WERE THE BEST CAPTAIN! Do you know how much I want to shout about it? You could organize and conduct a CRM course, there would be a queue for you! How you were able to find a balance between the crew, how you smoothed out tense situations, how you sent me to wash the portholes while you giggled downstairs, supporting my stepladder, how you appreciated and ALWAYS chose excellent wine, how you played tennis easily and beautifully, how warm and cozy you were, how you loved someone dear to my heart, Your wife Silvana, how you told everyone you met that your wife was Italian, how I loved shopping with you in Italy and choosing gifts for her, how warmly you spoke about your children… my dear, HOW YOU LOVED LIFE!!!
I was so afraid of this day… I was hoping for an early meeting! You’re taking all my secrets with you. From the moment I found out that you were leaving, my heart is broken into pieces, but I believe that you are in a better world! I can still see you looking at me and asking, “Well, tell me, who is your best captain?” My dear, there is no one better than you and there will be no one! My heart is with you♥️
Rest in peace!
Bert & Norma-Jean Jocelyn Nielsen
Bert Nielsen and Chuck shared an apartment in Toronto approx. 1968-69. They routinely travelled between North Bay and TO transporting Rena’s spaghetti sauce to get through the week of student living. They guys had been neighbourhood friends and enjoyed many teenager adventures. Condolences to the family. Great memories.

Our deepest condolences to Silvana and the family.
I always thought of Chuck as our community’s ‘dad.’ If there was something that needed attention, we always knew Chuck was there taking care of it.
It doesn’t feel the same walking out and not bumping into Chuck for a quick chat or a great story. He will be greatly missed.
Thomas Montgomery
You were and always be my POM POM. For those who don’t know when I was just a baby I could not say grandpa and it came out Pom Pom and that’s what I have called him since. I know you’re in heaven flying a nice jet with all you family and friends. One day I’ll join you and we will share a hug until then goodbye and rest peacefully I love you.
