In Loving Memory of Bernardette Pereira

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Bernardette Pereira, on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at the age of 92 (almost 93).  She left this world peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.

Bernardette was born on April 23, 1932 in Terceira, Portugal.  She lost her first husband to Tuberculosis at a young age and made the journey to Canada with her only child, her daughter, Ester in 1967.  They settled in Brampton, Ontario where she made a life based on hard work and great values.

She dedicated her life to her family, always putting the needs of others before her own. A loving mother to Ester, and a devoted grandmother to Janine and Neil.  She took them in and was fundamental in raising and providing a home for all of them to live together.  She could be tough, but she was also sweet, and extremely funny.  She touched the lives of all who knew her with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love, especially for her family.  She was known as “Vavo” to everyone.

As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Bernardette instilled in them the values of compassion, hard work, and the importance of family. She found joy in the simple moments and cherished the time spent with those she loved. She also loved to watch wrestling, yes, that’s right, wrestling, all the way back to the early 80’s until now.

Bernardette Pereira is survived by her daughter, Ester Viveiros, her grandchildren Janine Gianforcaro (Rick), Neil Viveiros (Sharon), her great-grandchildren (Melana and Sabrina Gianforcaro, Sarah Viveiros, Sean Lethbridge), her sister, Maria Olivia, and many other loving family members and friends.

We find comfort in knowing that she will forever remain in our hearts and that her love will continue to guide us. Rest in peace, Vavo.  You will be deeply missed but never ever forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 5pm to 8pm at Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen St. S (Hwy 50), Bolton (905-857-2213).

A funeral service will be held the following day, Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 11am at Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen St. S (Hwy 50), Bolton.

Entombment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 7300 Hwy 27, Woodbridge.

Donations can be made to Headwaters Health Care Foundation (www.hhcfoundation.com). Condolences for the family may be offered at www.EganFuneralHome.com
