Anne Allengame

August 11, 2025 By Egan Funeral Home 11 Condolences

Allengame Webframe

After a long life full of service to others, Anne Allengame passed peacefully at Headwaters Health Care Centre, Orangeville on Sunday, August 10, 2025.  Beloved wife of Tom (2000), devoted mom of Diane (Jim Farmer) and cookie-baking Nana of Adam Kuster (Julia) and Andrew Kuster (Lauren).  Remembered fondly by Paul Kuster and her nephews and nieces.

During her 60+ years living in Caledon East, Anne volunteered for the Cancer Society, Red Cross Society, the Mothers’ Auxiliary for Scouts and Guides (CACY), the Caledon East Fire-ettes, Armstrong Nursing Home Helping Hands and was a member of the Town of Caledon Heritage Committee.  The Caledon East and District Historical Society was formed after meetings in her rec room with like-minded friends and was one of her proudest accomplishments.

Anne had a great passion for gardening, and for the environment.  She loved to ramble the local forests and fields often in the company of the artist Daphne Lingwood, for whom she crafted beautiful leather jewellery. She cared deeply about protecting natural spaces and did not hesitate to write to premiers and prime ministers with her thoughts.

Throughout her life, Anne was a faithful Christian and was always concerned about the less fortunate and the displaced.  She worked on the Outreach Team at St. James for decades and was a dedicated supporter of inner-city missions as well as local charities.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 2 – 5 pm at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South, (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213), with the funeral at St. James Anglican Church, 6025 Old Church Road, Caledon East, on Thursday, August 14 at 11 o’clock. The service will be livestreamed on YouTube on the St. James Caledon East channel. Interment Caledon East Public Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, gifts to the Outreach Committee at St. James Anglican Church (stjamescaledoneast.ca) or the charity of your choice, would be appreciated.

Our very special thanks to the staff at the Lord Dufferin Retirement Centre for making Anne’s time there pleasant and full of love. Thanks as well to the nursing staff at Headwaters Health Care Centre for their compassionate end of life care.

    Diane, Jim and Family:
Anne Allengame was one of the good people in this world. She spent most of her long life giving to and helping others in this village she called home for such a long time.

Many of us will miss her as a friend and neighbour. Chuck and I had the privilege of knowing Anne for over 25 years. She was one of the original founders of the Caledon East & District Historical Society and that is where I met her, and worked on many projects with her. One of the fun projects was the book on the Caledon East history – Settling the Hills. Anne authored the chapter on Business and Commerce. She participated in many of the Society’s contributions to making local history known, always with that wonderful smile – a constant addition to her volunteer work.

Although you were fortunate to have the presence and love of Anne in your lives for a great number of years, her loss will undoubtedly leave a large hole and will be sadly felt. I grieve with you.
    Sincerely,
    Donna

    Dear Diane, Jim and family,

Our hearts are with you. Anne’s kindness, generosity, and love for her community have left an enduring legacy in Caledon. The lives she touched will continue to be brighter because of her, and her spirit will be felt in the work she inspired. May her memory bring you comfort and remain a blessing to all who knew her.

Dear Diane and Jim. we are so sad to read of our dear friend Anne’s passing. She was a kind and caring lady and always had a positive uplifting cheery message. Sometimes that message was “you have too many clothes, you need to downsize” — and she was right there. I will miss chatting with her and knowing that she was there. She was always a support to both myself and Bill when he took services at Caledon East. One Sunday she invited us for lunch with our friend Sandra from Iraq. That is a lovely memory. Caledon East will be poorer without her.

A lovely lady and neighbor to my parents for many years. She had a community mind and spirit not seen much around Caledon East anymore. Anne’s husband Tommy and my dad were on the fire department together for many years. When I did see Anne she ALWAYS told me my dad was the heart of the department back then. I know dad thought the very same of Tom. Rest in peace Mrs. Allengame.

Diane, please accept our sincere condolences to you and your family on the loss of your mother. Anne was such a vital part of our St. James Church community for so many years with her lovely smile and her bright, strong spirit. Her sincere comments of support for our church Outreach committee efforts were always greatly appreciated, and her many charitable works were an inspiration to us all.
