In Memorial

Alfred Hunter born in Edinburgh, Scotland died Thursday, November 18th, 2010, in his 93rd year, at King Nursing Home, Bolton, Ontario. Alf served with the Royal Engineers in the North African Campaign, and then came to Canada in 1956 to work as an electrician in northern Alberta during pioneer days of the oil sands. After serving a stint in the copper mines in Australia, he worked as a lighting director in Toronto for CTV and TVO until his retirement. Alf was an accomplished cyclist in his youth and enjoyed driving his beloved Alpha Romeos until well into his eighties. He is survived by his brother Jim Hunter in Edinburgh, and nieces Doris and Ann. Fondly remembered by Lorraine and Arne Fors and their families. Special thanks to the King Nursing home for their kind care. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place in Edinburgh. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario through the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen St. South, Bolton, Ontario L7E 2C6 (905-857-2213). I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Alf at TVO, (I was a puppeteer) and he was a great guy who knew how to live life well, kind to himself and others. An pretty fine example of what a sucessful person should be. He will be fondly remembered. Bob Dermer

Alf was a fine and honourable gentleman.
I had the pleasure and privilege of working with him both at CFTO TV and TV Ontario. He is unforgettable to me an I have very fond memories of working with him from the “Unle Bobby” days to many show at TV Ontario. I cannot articulate all my feelings about Alf, except that I shall always have fond memories of the time I spent with him.
    Rest in peace Alf.
    Ranjit

Alf was one of the finest chaps with whom I had ever worked, He was a great asset on any crew, had a great work ethic, demanded high standards from his crew and himself, had a wicked sense of humour yet always had a smile. I will treasure those times when he was a member of my production team.
    Godspeed old friend.
