De Franco Webframe

Margaret Elaine De Franco, at 80 years of age, of Bolton, Ontario, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, surrounded by family.

Elaine was born on January 9, 1946, in Nova Scotia to Daniel and Mary Eleanor Lloyd. She graduated from Westville High School and built a long and respected career as an Accounting Manager in a male-dominated field where she was known for her determination, diligence, and strong work ethic.

Elaine was also a cancer survivor and later became a public speaker, receiving recognition and awards for her talks on cancer awareness, where she inspired others through her honesty and strength.

She was actively involved in her community throughout her life, including her participation in the Kinettes and TOPS, where she formed lasting friendships and was deeply valued for her commitment and kindness.

Elaine had a strong creative spirit and a deep love for home. She was an avid gardener and her beautifully kept gardens in Palgrave were admired by many who passed by. She also enjoyed sewing and was a talented cook and baker, especially known for her cakes, which were made with care for family celebrations.

Above all, Elaine’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished her role as a grandmother and shared a very close bond with her granddaughters, whom she loved deeply and delighted in spoiling. Her family was the centre of her world.

Elaine is survived by her two children, Maria (David) and Joseph, and her three granddaughters, Sabrina, Cameron, and Chloe. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Donato De Franco.

She will be remembered for her generosity, her love of conversation, her kindness, her affection for animals, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, resilience, and love.

She will be missed by her siblings, brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and the many friends who were fortunate to know her.

The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South (Hwy 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Wednesday morning, June 3rd from 10:30 am until time of funeral service in the chapel at 11:00 am.

How do you say goodbye to someone like Aunt Elaine? She was not only my aunt, but also a dear friend. We shared so many wonderful memories together. She was easy to talk to, always had a story to tell, and could always make me laugh.
One of my most treasured recent memories was when Aunt Elaine and I traveled together to visit my mom. We shared such good times on that trip, just as we always did. She treated me as more than a niece—she loved me deeply, and I felt that in so many ways.
When my husband died, she was there for me with comfort, love, and support when I needed it most. That is something I will never forget.
I will truly miss her, her stories, her laughter, and the love she gave so freely. Goodbye, Aunt Elaine. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

    Crystal Rickan

Aunt Elaine held a very special place in my life. She was not only my aunt, but also a dear friend.

Over the years, we shared many conversations about faith, scripture, and life’s challenges. I always appreciated her gentle spirit, thoughtful wisdom, and unwavering trust in God. She had a remarkable way of offering guidance with kindness and grace, and her words often provided comfort, encouragement, and perspective when they were needed most.

One of the things I admired most about Elaine was her faithful pilgrimage in walking with the Lord. Through the seasons of her life, she demonstrated a quiet but steadfast commitment to her faith, trusting God’s guidance and drawing strength from His word. Her example was an inspiration to me and to many others who were blessed to know her.

While I will deeply miss our conversations and the friendship we shared, I take comfort in knowing that her earthly pilgrimage has now led her to a new journey by His side. The faith that sustained her throughout her life has now brought her into the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly.

Though our hearts grieve her passing, we rejoice in the hope and promise of Christ, knowing that death is not the end, but the beginning of eternal life with Him.

My deepest condolences and prayers are with our entire family during this difficult time.

    With love and remembrance,

    Bill, and Liam Bruton

I’m saddened by the loss of dear friend Elaine. She inspired me with her great spirit of love, adventure, open mindedness and intelligence.
Last year, I recall her participating in a women’s full moon celebration – dancing, singing and sharing her authentic vulnerable spirit among friends sitting around a bon fire in the country. She chose to join us in spite of her numerous mobility challenges. She always had a hug, smile and kind word to share. Her darling granddaughter Sabina was the light of her life. Elaine’s face would light up when she warmly shared her stories with us. Elaine was loved dearly and will be mourned deeply by her friends ❤️. Rest in Peace.

It is a great sadness that my dear friend has passed on. She will remain in my memory, wearing that understanding and sympathetic smile, the glint of laughter, whenever I was being goofy. I often told her she was so beautiful, that I just had to keep staring at her. It is one less loved friend at our Sunday morning breakfast table, one voice we will not hear again in our songs.
