Born on December 8, 1933 in Hellendoorn, Overijssel, The Netherlands and went to be with His Lord on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Avalon Nursing Home, Orangeville. Jan is the son of the late Hermannus and Aaltje Wemekamp. He is survived by his siblings George and Jenny Wemekamp of Barrhead, Alberta; Helen and John Postma of Brighton, Ontario; Alie and Bill Vogelzang of Barrhead, Alberta; Gerrit and Grace Wemekamp of Coaldale, Alberta and predeceased by Dina, Bertha, Henry, Willem and Herman. Fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law Riek, Gail and Janna Wemekamp and his many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home Baxter & Giles Chapel, 273 Broadway, Orangeville (519-941-2630) Sunday evening 7 – 9 o’clock. Funeral service will be held in the Canadian Reformed Church, 55 C Line, Orangeville on Monday, September 26 at 2 o’clock. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Orangeville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Anchor Association, 361 Thirty Road, Beamsville L0R 1B2 to support people living with special needs.
