Chris, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family at this time. I only had the pleasure of meeting your dad a couple of times, but he was a really sweet man.

To Bert’s family and especially Joan,
How very sad Gregg and I are to hear of Bert’s passing. We had the delightful pleasure of meeting him last year on a cruise where he and I became instant friends…not just because of Bert’s charm, smile and friendliness but also because of our shared Newfoundland heritage. We both feel so lucky to have known him. The world has lost a lovely man.

We’re sure going to miss Uncle Bert. He worked so hard to try and keep all the extended family connected. And he loved each one of us just as we are – without judgement. He was interested in what was going on in each of our lives. He was the best of us all. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family at this difficult time.

Dear Family – I loved Uncle Bert. He had a heart of gold, loved life and had a way of making us all feel special. I have wonderful memories of the year I was in Newfoundland when he was there in his old family home. I am just sorry my two daughters never met him. He was a treasure and will be missed by many. Warm thoughts and prayers to all the family.

Chris Sharpe and family:
I was just cleaning up this week’s papers and came across Bert’s picture. My heart stopped. Bert and I have been neighbours for many years. We met most often at the mailboxes and I shared many a chat with him. I will not be able to pick up my mail without thinking of him. He was such a nice man and I will miss him. Please accept our sincere condolences.
