Peacefully, with his family by his side, at Southlake Regional Health Care Centre, Newmarket, on Monday, May 16, 2016, Ralph Edwin Douglas, Schomberg, beloved husband of Elizabeth Douglas (nee Merritt). Loving father of Sarah and her husband Peter Ogborn, Rachael Douglas, Joel and his wife Jennifer Douglas. Cherished Papa of Kylie and Evan Ogborn. Dear brother of David and Barbara Douglas, Carol Baker and predeceased by Ken and Ross. Dear son-in-law of Mary Anne Merritt and brother-in-law of John and Maureen Merritt, Gloria and Imants Jansons.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the doctors and nurses at Southlake Regional Health Care Centre and St. Michael’s Hospital for their compassion and care.
A private memorial service will be held at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) Saturday, June 4.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, 393 University Avenue, Toronto M5G 1E6 or St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation, 30 Bond Street, Toronto M5B 1W8.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Ralph. Five years ago Ralph & I had a bit of time to talk about old times at my Mom’s funeral. We laughed about our high school days when more than once Ralph, Carol & I skipped classes at KCSS. We would get to the corner of the 15th & the 7th in Ralph’s white Chevy and Ralph would say “so – left to the school or right to the coffee shop? OK, right it is! Many years have passed since then. Life has a way of leading fr;iends and family in different directions. As adults, we seldom met up with one another, but every now and then we did. I know you and the family will miss him like crazy Liz. Ralph was one of the good guys!

It’s about 15 years now since Peter met Sarah, and Peter started telling us stories of you and Ralph, Rachael and Joel. Ralph taught Peter so much over the years about maintaining a home in the country, and so much more, and always with patience, a smile and a chuckle. Please accept our heartfelt condolences at the loss of your dear husband Ralph. So many fond memories of weddings and reunions and watching the children grow up to be the amazing adults they are. We both have parallel lives, as our husbands battled horrible diseases, while our families grew. I am unable to be there on Saturday due to recent surgery, but please know I will be thinking of you. My heart breaks for your pain. Ralph is at peace now. His suffering is done, just like Bill’s. They have moved on to a better place. May God give you strength to move forward.
