“What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us.”

    Dear Darryl,
I was deeply saddened by the news of your loving son, James passing. Losing a loved one turns life from a vibrant world full of color, to black and white. I imagine there is no pain more far-reaching and deeper than losing a child. The goal is to make it day by day and surround yourself with people who love you. Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.
My heart and prayers go out to you at this most difficult time. May peace and comfort find you during this difficult time. My deepest condolences go out to you and the family.

Delia and family– there are no words to fully express the feelings we are experiencing over this tragedy. I know how special your James was — remember you referring to him last year as “my baby.” I remember some difficult times you had when James was a little toddler and he was keeping you up with his nightmares. You, Darryl and Cameron will one day be able to look back on so many of the wonderful memories of your beautiful boy and smile and reminisce. Until then, know that the support and love of your friends and family is so deep now as we try to give you strength. Now there is one more angel in Heaven and one more star in the sky that outshines them all.

Not ever having met James in no way diminishes the feeling of loss of a fellow human being.

The pleasantries and laughter of good times past are eagerly awaiting to again reflect upon the family at the appropriate time to completely fulfill the memories of a wonderful person.

It is the power of having time on one’s side that makes all the difference in the world. It allows for the substitution of disquiet for the amity of the soul.

God has blessed James to rest in peace. And God will see to the comfort of family and friends at this time, this needful moment.

Although I did not have the privilege of working directly with James, as I have been supporting his friends through their grieving all week here at school, I have come to learn that James was truly a unique, generous and warm person. We often learn the most about someone based on what their friends say about them, and James’ friends have all expressed such love for his genuine character and compassionate nature. He will truly be missed here at St. Mike’s by staff and students alike. My condolences to your family.

    Dear Axford family,
I was sincerely saddened to hear of your loss. James was a truly sweet “ginger” boy and it was both a blessing and pleasure to have taught him in his grade 8 year. I will always remember James as a courteous, bright, conscientious and good humoured boy. Tonight I was glad to see that he was surrounded by those that loved him and that they had so many good memories to share…and these precious tokens will live in our hearts forever. I do offer you my sincerest condolences and prayers. May God give you strength and comfort in this time of need. Mrs (PIzzuto ) Bertani

I feel very grateful to have been such good friends with James, it’s just too bad we stopped hanging out when grade 12 started. There wasn’t a reason. I had no reason to cut our communications. I liked James very much and never forgot about him, which is why I occasionally stopped him to catch up on things this semester.

    I apoligize for leaving James.
