Gordon Mathew Wainwright, age 59 years, of Tottenham, passed away suddenly, Thursday, March 19, 2015. He was born in Toronto, Ontario on November 26, 1955, to Barbara Kemp and Gordon Wainwright Sr. He was a devoted and loving husband to Susan Wainwright, for 31 years. He was a dedicated and caring father to 4 children, Kyle, Melanie, Shane and Julia. Grandfather to Antonio, Taylor and Gabriol. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Linda and two brothers Eric and Morgan. Gord will be best remembered for his unshakable faith and loyalty to his creator, Jehovah God, and his zeal for sharing the Bible’s promise of a world free of sickness and death. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and the congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses that he attended.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Friday afternoon 2 – 4 and evening 7 – 9 o’clock. Memorial Service will be held in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 360 Conestoga Drive, Brampton, (corner of Bovaird and Conestoga), on Saturday, March 28 at 2 o’clock. I was lucky enough to work with Gord for almost 18 years at CCL. He was one of the few truly honest good people I had the pleasure to know. I remember oh so many years ago when I had to pull him out of a printing press. He was hurt quite bad but never flinched or complained. I got him to Jo-Brant and they quickly gave him a shot of Demerol, all smiles after that. Next day went to visit him and when they gave me his room number as I was walking along the hall all I could here where babies crying. Only room they had available was in the maternity ward. Not a complaint out of Gord, that’s the way he rolled.

Most of my memories of Gordon are when he was a little boy. During my summer vacation from school, I would go to my sisters home to look after him and his sister Linda. Every morning we had a routine and that was to watch Popeye The Sailor Man. He would never miss it. He would say “come on Auntie Susie, Popeye is on” and we would have to sing the song. Afternoon was to the park, Linda in the stroller and him hanging on to my shirt until we got there. That little boy could run like the wind. He will always have a place in my heart. I was heartbroken to hear of Gord’s passing. I always remember him for his big smile and unwavering love for Jehovah. I remember field service in the back of the station wagon with you all! Especially hearing Gord laughing as he drove and listened to Shane reading so emphatically from the Bible as we sat backwards looking out the rear window! 😉
How grateful we can all be to know that he is asleep and in Jehovah’s memory. Our tears will turn to those of joy very soon when Jehovah calls him and Gord answers! How wonderful those hugs will be!!
