We are so sad that our longtime friend and mentor has passed on to her Heavenly home, but know she will be greeted with open arms at the Pearly Gates. Google had nothing on Florence and her amazing ability to remember details. She was so loved by all who knew her! A huge sense of loss for her family and entire Mayfield community.

Aunt Florence was always our go-to person for everything. As youngsters we were taught in any emergency to “Call Aunt Florence.” She has remained a steadfast guide throughout my life. She had an immense heart and cared for others her entire life. She was always intensely interested in everyone around her. Although she was terribly modest she always made me marvel at how she learned the computer, email and more in her 8th decade! In later years, I loved our tea parties where I would listen to Aunt Florence and my Dad share their memories of the past.
The world won’t be the same without Aunt Florence’s guiding presence.
Much love to my cousins, Jean and Elizabeth, both of whom she was immensely proud of (although she would never boast).

We were very saddened to learn of Florence’s passing. She will certainly be missed by many people from the Mayfield community but also the Seniors Club here in Caledon East where she loved to exercise and enjoy the luncheons on Friday. Barbara often spoke about how much she would enjoy sitting and talking with the ladies about things that were happening. Our sympathies go to her family and relatives.

My heartfelt condolence to the family. Florence was a very special lady and one that was admired greatly. My Mom (Helen Dear – nee Hossie, deceased) spoke so highly of her cousin and I had the pleasure of spending time with Florence at family gatherings over the past 50+ years. You knew that family was so important to Florence – she always made you feel special and welcome. As Helen would say – Florence was the “Salt of the Earth”. I only hope that each of us left behind will live up to Florence’s spirit, spunk, kindness, genuine warmth and her positive outlook on life. Her overflowing heart will be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you remember Florence. She was truly a beautiful soul and her Mayfield church family will miss her too. I always remember her ready to take a picture with her camera so she would have a record of special events, and I understand she already had her pies ready to bake for the annual BBQ. Florence was amazing. May the knowledge that she rests in God’s care bring comfort and peace to you, even as you grieve her loss. In sympathy, Sandra and Fraser

I was saddened today to learn of Florence’s passing. She and I attended the twice weekly fitness program and she was a delight to know. I think I can speak on behalf of many of the “junior seniors” (those under 70) that Florence was an absolute inspiration to us all. She will certainly be missed.
My sincere condolences to her family,

Thinking of a wonderfully kind and elegant lady today. Grandma LaRose you will be missed. Sending love and condolences to my aunt Jean, cousin Sarah and all of the family. The world lost a light and heaven gained an angel.♡ Have strength today and remember what an amazing woman she was. Take solitude in your special memories with her and celebrate her life. She would fret at your tears and take comfort in your smiles. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Jean and Rick, Elizabeth and Dave and all those wonderful grandchildren.
Unfortunately we could not attend the visitation and for that we are truly sorry that we could not extend our personal condolences to all of you. Many a lunch time I would enjoy a bite to eat at Lloyd and Florence’s. Both she and Newton were cut from a very special cloth of practicality and compassion. She was an amazing baker and after our girls were born she had really good one liner advice about raining children like so many of the wise women of Mayfield Church. She was a fresh as a daisy and as current as the daily news.
Happy to have known her. Bob and I are thinking of you. kindest regards, Rev. Sandra Abuja and family
