Good bye David. And my condolences to all who grieve. You were a good guy, a good friend and a good doctor. I recall you introduced the “codes” for medical emergencies at Peel Memorial. You had a ready smile, and a friendly wave, and I,m hurting Brian

Lianne and Christopher, as you know we first met your parents some fifty years ago in Newport, South Wales. Later, we had many happy times together, particularly when our families lived close to each other in Charleston, South Carolina. Although we have been apart for many years, you all remain in our thoughts and fondest memories. We will miss your father – as we have missed your mother since her passing last year.

I am very sorry to her of your dad’s passing, he went to our church Christ Church Bolton, Anglican but when I met him it was mostly from the store, he had such a sense of humour and always had me in stitches, he would come into the store and say Maureen, what trouble are you getting yourself into now and then crack a devilish smile and I would say see you in church then and he say thats right better be there and crack a smile again. Truely I shall miss his voice, his smile, his wit.
May you be comforted by God’s love and peace I pray

The one thing I learned from my father is his “bedside” manners how to treat people. I learned to treat everyone with respect. As I made rounds with him I saw people pass and save peoples lives. But the one thing that always stood out was how he treated everybody. He was a wonderful physician and always took care of his patients. He taught me the value of how to treat others. For that I thank you because I wouldn’t have the friends I have right now if not for the lessons you taught me. Shame you did not learn how to drive a boat ha ha. Thank you for taking me in to your family and treating me like your own. Thank you for everything! All my love-“D U Christopher”

I saw David’s obituary in The Canadian Medical Journal this week and it brought back memories of our time in Dublin as medical students at the Royal College of Surgeons. I always liked him; particularly his enthusiasm for boat racing on the Liffey. He spent a lot of time teaching us how to row (8s) in a coordinated way! I can still hear him urging us on.
