To the family of Roland Mueller:

I was very saddened to hear of Roland’s passing this week. I had the pleasure of working with Roland at Speedstamp from 1994 to 2000 while I was a Decoma account manager.

He spent many meetings gently teaching me about tooling and the stamping business. He was the consumate teacher and mentor for me to gain an education to the stamping business.

Roland never ceased to amaze me with his uncanny ability to accurately quote piece price and tooling for parts in his head which would subsequently be verified or confirmed by the estimator.

I have many fond memories of going to lunch with him and Urs at his favourite restaurant in those years.

He was always a friend and mentor first instead of just another General Manager. I feel fortunate to have been able to interact with this wonderful man. My Speedstamp letter opener will continue to remind me of this wonderful friend who has now moved on.

My sympathies are with all you in this time of change.

Might seem strange but one of the fondest memories I have of Roland was when one of his dogs died. That week nothing got done at work. For me it spoke volumes about him and his perspective on life and the things that mattered to him.

Mornings at work were always interesting as the first thing to be discussed was last nights news, more specifically, the things that were wrong with the world and what should be done about it. A bad drive to work also meant an interesting discussion. Or how about the time Roland saw someone throw garbage from their car – that morning he wasn’t driving the white minivan but his hot rod, that poor SOB didn’t stand a chance. As he tells the story you can picture that in catching up to the offender he has committed anywhere from 5 to 10 traffic violations, but that doesn’t matter as he got the license plate number. Back at work George then had to spend the morning filing a police report. No question, Roland was absolutely right and something needed to be done. In the end, yes the police did go and pay a visit to the offender’s home and did call Roland back.

It should also be noted that when Roland was on vacation, he was on vacation. For that month you did not hear from him and every time he returned he did confirm that the roads he traveled were much better than here and out there people knew how to drive!

Roland, if there is some sort of life after death, I hope you are traveling those roads and I am sure your loved ones will always be with you in one form or another. You will always be a part of my life.

To your family my deepest sympathies, Roland was taken way too early.

    Brian

My sincere condolences to the Mueller family.

Roland was one the greatest men that I had the honour to know. My best years at Magna were the one’s I spent at Speedstamp. I can only hope that my own son will grow up to be the pillar of strength, honest, loving, caring man like Roland.

Now we each have our own memories to cherrish forever.

I had the pleasure of working with Roland at Speedstamp for 12 years. Roland was a remarkable man whose smile and energy made you feel so good. He had a great sense of humour and a passion for life. He made Speedstamp a great place to work. We all worked so hard together as a team because Roland was a great team leader. Roland was always grateful for our hard work. I always remember the fun we had at the Summer Picnics and Christmas Parties. They were so much fun we never wanted them to end. He is someone I looked up to. I will truly miss Roland and he will always have a special place in my heart.

My deepest Sympathy to Hilda, Felix, Marcel and their family

However, Roland was also cherished as an extremely caring, fun, thoughtful man with a positive outlook on everything. I am thankful for knowing Roland as a family friend and extend my deepest condolences to Hilde, Marcel and Felix and their extended families.
We will all miss you Roland.

We have all been blessed to have had Roland with us and now we have many beautiful thoughts and memories we can share and treasure in out hearts. Roland has touched us all in many different ways and he had many roles in his life. Foremost he was a family man, friend and teacher to many. For me Roland was all of the above as he managed to be a friend as well as a helping hand when in need. He was my sounding board, my conscience, my advisor but most of all my friend. We have spent many “Roland lunches” together, discussing world affairs and I learned about his family, dogs, RV travel, gardening, sports just to name a few. When planting season arrived I was told in no uncertain terms to plant the garlic now or I would have to live without homegrown garlic the year after. Roland will live in my memory forever and I’m happy I had a chance to be his friend for such a long time….I will miss him but I also believe that he will be well looked after….

I was very sadden to hear of the loss of Roland this week. I also was very blessed to have worked with Roland for many years while I was employed at Decoma Int’l. He was always one of the best General Manager’s around that always greeted you with an ear to ear smile and always made time to stop to chat with you to see how you we’re doing. Roland had such a great spirit in him that he loved to share with all the people he worked with everyday. He would always make sure everyone was laughing and having a great time at any company functions. Truly he was an amazing man who was gifted in so many ways. Roland was surely an icon for all of us that had the privalege to work with him at Decoma. I will miss you Roland and I am so thankful that I had the chance to have met you in my lifetime. May your journeys now be pain free and that you will get everything put into place for when you meet your family once again. GOD be with you now and always!!! My deepest condolences to Hilda, Felix, Macel & families for your loss. My deepest sympathy Mo
