Jackolyn Patricia Elliott

May 21, 2015 By Egan Funeral Home 7 Condolences

In Memorial

Dec. 2, 1932 – May 17, 2015

Jackolyn passed peacefully listening to one of her favourite pieces of music. She was loved and will be missed by family, extended family, and friends around the world. Her grace, vivacity and enthusiasm marked all her activities and encounters. Jackolyn’s life was filled with art,  with concert dates, and wherever she travelled she returned with new friends.   The youngest of the 3 Elliott sisters, she leaves behind Mrs. June Charbonneau, Mississauga ON, and family, and Mrs. Georgina (Jo) Samis, Edmonton AB, and family. Jackolyn was married for 15 years to the late William Frank Marsh, and she also leaves behind her stepchildren Paul Marsh, Burlington, ON and family, Ms. Linda Marsh, Toronto, ON, and family, (their families), and foster daughter Susan Vernon Marie Acquin.  Born in Toronto to Margaret Daly Elliott and George Elliott, the family moved to Oshawa and then Bowmanville while Jackolyn was growing up. While in Bowmanville, her father ran “Liberty Bowl” where Jackolyn was “Queen of the 5-Pins,” until she graduated from Bowmanville High School and moved to Toronto to attend Ryerson Institute of Technology.   After graduation, Jackolyn taught in Cornwall, Perth and Barrie before settling into the York District School Board where she taught at Bayview SS, and Don Head SS, where she was the Department Head of the Tech department. She retired after a full career in 1987. In retirement, Jackolyn started a business to teach ESL. She specialized in working with entire families. Her love of language and communication were both her hobby and livelihood.  Jackolyn’s life was especially marked by her personal enquiry into the purpose and meaning of life. Her search was answered in 1968 when she met Kenneth George Mills (1923-2004). She was always proud to say that she had the fire of both her Irish and Sicilian heritage, and she focused that fire in an extraordinary way in her role in Dr. Mills’ life and with those who gathered around him.   Heartfelt thanks to the staff of Dufferin Oaks, who were so responsive to this extraordinary woman during the past 18 months.

Although the interment in the family plot will be private, there will be a gathering of friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Saturday, July 25 from 2 – 4 o’clock.

In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to your favourite charity. Jackolyn’s favourites included The Kenneth G. Mills Foundation, (www.kgmfoundation.org ) the Muskoka Chautauqua, (www.muskokachautauqua.com ) and the Headwaters Hospital in Orangeville, (www.hhcfoundation.com ).

Condolences for the family and R.S.V.P. for the memorial reception on Saturday, July 25 may be offered at www.EganFuneralHome.com

Here’s to you, Jackolyn – may we all live as fully!

    In memory of Jackolyn
The angel looked down from heaven one night
    They searched for miles afar.
    and deep within the distance
They could see a shining star
    They knew that very instant
that the star was theirs to gain
So they took you up to heaven
    forever to remain
Look down on us from heaven
Keep us free from hurt and pain
You’ll always be within my heart
    Until we meet again.

Dear Jackolyn, indeed you are a shining star, one that graced my life. There is an embedding of Souls that can never be erased for we have shared the messages and elation of One who spoke from the Absolute and time being what it is, we shall soon all stand together on the bridge to eternity.

    Love to you, dear Jackolyn

Many feeling stirred for me this week with the news of Jackolyn. A women of extraordinary beauty and depth. Many times she pulled me up and handed me back my sword and sent me back into action.

    I lit a candle May 20th 2015

    Yesterday a candle was lit,

For a lady I once knew.

It flickered outside, the night long,

    Although the wind it blew.

Our lady, she had similar traits,

She had weathered many a storm.

Her life was filled with burning Ideal,

Her devotion she would always perform.

Although she was never a Mother,

Many a man she helped with Child.

Her discipline was a rare example,

She could feed the meek and mild.

    Somewhere now in the heavens,

A fruit plate, it waits for God.

For Jackie has entered the Kingdom,

Her journey on earth been trod.

    Today the choir is singing,

    A anthem just for her.

She’s with the One, she always loved,

This fact, it is for sure.

The candle it burned all night long.

Love to Jackolyn and the One she loves,

    Richard Howes

Jackie was the essence of compassion, and she had a nifty sense of humour. I’m so very glad I had the privilege of meeting and working with her for sixteen years. Her patience towards this neophyte was nothing short of remarkable. Dance on, old chum. Loads of love, it never end.

Jackolyn Elliott was more than a friend, more than a guide, more than a leader. She was true to Principle. Whatever her comments were, they were based in her experience of Principle. I am extremely grateful for the encouragement and support through the years that I had the privilege to be associated with her. Her humor, support and guidance will always be with me. Jackie, Freedom is found.

As a Bowmanville High School chum and friend, I wish to express my condolences to June and Georgina, and to all of Jackie’s family. We lost touch after my marriage and farm life, but I have so very often wished to be able to contact her. With happy memories, Sincerely, Bessie Yeo Vaneyk.

As says Dr. KGMills, our beloved Prime Mentor of Canada: “When anyone dies, hold in
Consciousness, that it’s only because, they were birthed to you! They have never really
died – only to appearance!! Appearance is always dying: the only thing about appearance
that isn’t dying, is the Truth that tells you: appearance is constant change, and I AM Changeless!”
