The world became a little less bright when Ramiro Soares Moniz passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026 at the age of 79, surrounded by his family, at home in Bolton. Ramiro (aka Roy) was born in San Miguel Portugal and with his family he immigrated to Canada as a teenager and went on to quickly advance in a profession that would eventually become his family’s livelihood. He married his beloved wife, Ann in 1971 and together they raised two wonderful children, Michelle and Michael. He followed his dream of owning his own business, being his own boss, and founded Bolton Tire Sales, making it a place where the people of Bolton could feel like family. He was everyone’s go to person for so much and when things would breakdown or needed fixing, he was there, he could solve any problem and see light in every dark situation. Ramiro was known for his quick wit, amazing sense of humour, infamous story telling, strength like no other, tell it like it is attitude, fierce work ethic, unwavering support for his family and friends, and his ever-giving lending hand. He left a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege to have known him. He was not only a role model and mentor he was a hero and friend to his children, to his wife, to his family, to the people he met, and to those who had the honour to work with him.
Despite facing severe health challenges over the past four years, Ramiro met each day with courage and strength beyond measure, never complaining or questioning why. Ramiro’s legacy is one of strength, determination, and unwavering commitment and love to his family and friends.
Ramiro is survived and missed beyond measure, by his cherished wife of 55 years Ann, his children Michelle (Neil), Michael (Melissa) whom he loved with all his heart and his granddaughters, Aubrey and Georgia who lighted up his life and brought a smile to him no matter what he was going through, and by his step-grand-daughters Katelyn and Mackenzie.
Ramiro’s generosity, wit, strength and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen St. S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Thursday from 6 – 8 o’clock and on Friday from 12 o’clock until time of memorial service in the chapel at one o’clock.
A reception will follow at the funeral home.
