Past President of Bolton Volunteer Ambulance Service

Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at his home, on Sunday, January 3, 2021, Ray Bottoms, at the age of 84 years.  A husband, a father, a dedicated man to his community and church.  Ray was a Past President of Albion Bolton Historical Society, a retired Elder of Caven Presbyterian Church, associate director of Albion Bolton Agricultural Society, and a volunteer board member of Laurel Hill Cemetery.  He wore many hats in his life and had many circles of friends.  He was also an avid Carnival/Circus Model Builder.

  23. Ray Strong

    January 5, 2021 at 1:57 pm

Isabelle, Fiona, George and families. I will greatly miss Ray. He was l like a big brother to me. We did all our lodge degrees together and attended lodge together. My whole family were and are grateful that we had Ray in our lives. He was always there to offer advice and support. We are all very upset at losing such a wonderful man; but must remember that he had a wonderful life. Even knowing that it will be hard for us all . We all know that he is in a better place and will be looking after us all. Bolton has lost one of it’s most loyal supporters but has been much the better to have had Ray serving in his many community endeavors. Miss you already Ray.

  28. Ken and Christina Graham

    January 5, 2021 at 3:35 pm

    To Isabelle, Fiona and George,
As neighbours and close friends , as far back as we can remember, we are very sorry to hear about that last train leaving the station, and we know that many people will miss Ray at many shows around Ontario and parts of the U.S. As part of Team Bottoms, Ray often volunteered whenever there was a need and he always had the Town’s best interests in mind.
When Ray volunteered for the Bolton Ambulance in 1969, he helped the service grow with the town. I always enjoyed working with Ray on many shifts during his over 20 year career. Once, one of our volunteer ambulance attendants , Bill Newlove, died of a heart attack, a few minutes after delivering a patient to Headwaters Hospital. Ray created a large beautiful plaque in memory of Bill, and also all the names of the many people who served with the Bolton Volunteer Ambulance service before it was taken over by the Region. That’s the kind of guy Ray was and you could always count on him. We will miss him greatly and so will the Town of Caledon. We send our sympathies to Isabelle and her family.
    Ken and Christina Graham

    To Isabelle, Fiona and George,

Our deepest condolences to you on the passing of Ray.
Ray was a special man. He thought of others first and his passion for helping and supporting was overwhelming.
I first met Ray when I volunteered at the Bolton Ambulance Service many years ago. Ray was still assisting and encouraging new cadets to gain the skills necessary for the job but more importantly to provide compassion when incidents required it.
Many times I saw him at the Bolton Fair along with Isabelle helping out at the gates or judging or displaying his circus models. My kids loved seeing the flee circus and the story he told them to look real hard and they would see them.
Our paths crossed again as a member of True Blue Lodge. He was a pillar of our lodge, at the same time humble in his station of life.
As I drove past the house, many times I would see him walking or working in his yard and I would beep my horn to acknowledge I saw him.
He always gave a big wave and smile, making me smile back.

He will be missed by all who he touched and we will cherish his memory in our hearts …

    David Syme and family.

To isabelle Fiona and George, we were deeply sadden on hearing of Ray’s passing. Ray’s passing brings one to think of so many memories from the years ofour two families getting together at each other homes, camping at primrose park. I will always remember the day that I found Mr and Mrs Bottoms in a parking lot just out side Port Huron Mi when they were heading out on a trip. I was in another parking lot in the truck. I can still picture Ray driving over and climbing up to look inside my truck. I only wish to this day that was going the same way just to give Ray a ride. R.I.P. Ray

Isabell, sorry to learn of Ray`s passing. My first memories of Ray were at the dairy, about 60 years ago. Often, I rode shotgun going to the farms pickcking up bulk milk. Those were the days, many fun times. He will be missed.

Sincere condolences to you, Isabelle and family. Thank you so much for sharing the funeral service since we couldn’t join you in person. If people could have joined you, I am sure the lineup would have been very long, indeed. I misread the time but was still able to see it this evening. Fiona, your tribute was very heartfelt. Thank you!

Ray was a quiet, gentle man with lots to share. It was always a pleasure to visit him during the fair and see his treasured carnival display. No touching. He will be missed. What a community spirit!
