I cannot express how saddened I am to hear that our long time family friend passed away. “Goldie” was what we knew her by, was always so good to our family and treated my sisters and I as though we were one of her own. I still remember walking into her place and smelling the food she was cooking and always offered to us. She loved to smile, laugh, and often gave us all that motherly lecture we needed being misbehaved kids. She was kind and generous and I cannot imagine my childhood memories without her in them. My deepest condolences to Marija and Goldie’s mom and the entire extended family. I know she is smiling down from heaven asking you not to worry because she is just fine and at peace. I was so saddened to hear of your mom’s passing. She was always “Goldie” to us and she sure did have a heart of gold. I have so many great memories of her – her big laugh, her generosity and her moonshine. I learned how to swear in Croatian from her;) Her accent and how she would say “I’m going to teach you your license!” when you misbehaved. She always made me laugh.
Marija, your mom is proud of you for being there for her until the end. And she will live on in your hearts and in the hearts of your daughters. A beautiful soul leaves a trail of beautiful memories.

Even up until my visit with her in the hospital she had such a good attitude and found only the positive in her situation. I hold many memories of her in my childhood- from her delicious meals to trips with us girls and my mom to wonderland! She was very grateful to have been surrounded by people who loved her dearly.
