Fitzner Web

January 6, 1937 – January 13, 2024

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Wolfgang Fitzner, surrounded by his family, in his home, Bolton, Ontario at 87 years old.

Wolfgang leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished memories, laughter, and strength.

Loving husband of Angela Fitzner for over 60 years.

Devoted father to Marc (Paula), Kirsty (Jim), and Jeanette (David),  and very proud Grandpa to Kieran, Ryan, Jaiden, Caitlyn and Paige, Brendan, Riley, and Ashley.

Son of Lisbeth and brother to Annelies and was born in Dresden, (formerly East Germany)

Immigrating with his young family to Canada in 1968, Wolfgang was a mechanical engineer by trade and brilliant designer.  Together with Angela they established their own business in 1976 and Calmec Precision in 1979. Wolfgang was highly respected by customers, colleagues, and staff, supplying machinery around the globe and, today, specializing in the wire and cable industry.  The legacy of Calmec is now represented by second and third generations.

Wolfgang held a lifelong passion for travelling, nature and the outdoors, and was quite an athlete.  He was an avid middle distance runner,  played tennis, golf, enjoyed swimming, and both cross country and downhill skiing.  Hiking, and walking was a regular activity that he greatly enjoyed doing as a family.

Wolfgang and Angela thoroughly enjoyed travelling the world together, and with their family. Wolfgang was well known for his genuine curiosity, amazement and respect of other cultures, people, and cuisine.  Documenting his appreciation and awe for the beauty of nature, famous landmarks and geographic wonders through photography, drawing and painting were just some of his many passions.

Wolfgang was fun loving, humble, and together with Angela they enjoyed many wonderful friendships over the years, most of which have lasted a lifetime.

Most notably, Wolfgang was a loving and devoted husband and father, hard working, thoughtful and honest in all that he did.  Always considerate, compassionate and supportive, he felt that it was not so much about the event being celebrated,  but more importantly all being together and the memories we were making.

Wolfgang will be sadly missed by all, and will remain in our hearts in all that we do.

The family will receive their friends and family at Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South (Hwy 50), Bolton on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 1 o’clock until time of the memorial service in the chapel at 2 o’clock.  Followed by a reception at the funeral home.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Headwaters Health Care Foundation, 100 Rolling Hills Drive, Orangeville L9W 4X9.

Condolences for the family may be offered at www.EganFuneralHome.com
