Condolence from Michael Larkin on December 13th, 2013 11:31 am

Darlene & Family,

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Kurt. Having lost a spouse myself I can appreciate the feelings you must be going through. While dealing with such a loss is a personal journey, I found it best to focus on the fond memories of your life together before Kurt’s illness. The happy memories, the laughter, and most of all the love. I am sure this is what Kurt would want you all to do. Rely on each other to get you through the difficult days, and know that he remains in your hearts and memories. Keep well yourselves and enjoy all the good things that life has to offer – that is what Kurt would surly wish for all of you.

For myself, I will always remember the kindness and friendship that we established in our early years together in high school, so many years ago, and yes, the laughter.

Keep well,
Michael Larkin

Condolence from John & Chantal MacFarlane on December 14th, 2013 12:37 pm

Darlene, we offer our condolences to you and your family. I can only imagine he is in a better place now.

Kurt and I go back a long long way and we had a lot of great experiences over the years. He was a great lover of sports and we played so much baseball, football, and golf together from back in our teens. He was a great hitter, and being a pitcher I was thankful to him for saving me countless times as he always seemed to come up with a clutch hit when it counted most. Can’t tell you how much time we spent at The Manoir watching Monday Night Football. He really loved his Minnesota Vikings. Also Saturday nights at his favourite haunt (Winnies) on Crescent Street. The camping trips in NY. I remember all of it like it was yesterday and will treasure those memories, they were such good times and he was a great friend.

John

Condolence from Wilf Flagler on December 16th, 2013 12:13 pm

Hearing of Kurt’s passing is very sad news indeed! Darlene & family, please accept deepest sympathies from myself & Christine. I have known and been a good friend of Kurt dating all the way back to the 1970’s. We shared many great times together throughout the “growing up years” in high school & beyond in CEGEP & University. He surely was a core member of our circle of life-long friends, many of whom relocated from the West Island in Montreal to the GTA. I had the honour of playing touch football in College & University, then softball & slo-pitch afterwards alongside Kurt over a period spanning at least 15 years & 2 provinces! On the field, Kurt was a quiet but fierce competitor who never ever gave up & often found a way to win. Kurt succeeded in bringing these fine attributes into his personal life off the field as well. Kurt – You will surely be missed but never ever forgotten! R.I.P. my friend.

Condolence from Tony Shaw on December 16th, 2013 10:34 pm

When my parents moved from Newfoundland to Alexina Drive in Montreal Kurt was the first person I met – he lived on the other side of our common back fence. For the two years we lived there Kurt and I walked to St. Thomas High School every single morning. We had a lot of fun playing games over our back fence. Kurt quickly became a very good friend and helped make my teenage years the very best. Our paths have not crossed since university but I remember Kurt fondly and have been kept up to date with his life through mutual friends. Thanks Kurt.

Tony

Condolence from Marilyn, Ted Rath & family on December 17th, 2013 11:08 am

Darlene, Amanda, Melissa & John,

I am so sorry to hear about Kurt, I can’t even begin to imagine the depth of your sorrow. it is never easy to lose a loved one but this time of year it seems especially unfair. That being said, this season is also a time of gathering – I’m sure you will find yourselves surrounded with family and friends, with many opportunities to share memories and take comfort in the company of those you love and who also loved Kurt.
May those fond memories bring you peace and comfort in your time of grieving, and may Kurt live on in your hearts forever.
Our thoughts are with you all at this time of sorrow.
With Love,
Marilyn, Ted Rath & family
