To the Dunn family, I heard from my sister Diane last night that your mother had passed away. I know how sad you will all be. She was “a great lady, a great wife. a great mother,.” We were fortunate to have known her. What a great role model for all of us! Alleluliah! Colleen and Phil

Dear Joan, Mum called me to tell me that she saw the note about your Mother’s passing in The Star. The news took me back many, many years to our high school days in Orangeville—to recollections of your Mum at your home, always smiling and kind, and especially to her laughter. I also have strong memories of her serving with a smile, alongside your Dad, at the venerable Dunn’s Drug Store on Broadway. She was a lovely woman, and she is survived by a wonderful family who I know she cherished. My condolences to you and Amber, and to Bill and Chris and their family, to Jane and Craig and their family, and to Lynn and her family. Love and best wishes always, Patty

I was very sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. I always admired her and looked forward to seeing her every year at the reunion. I was with my daughter in Ottawa from Friday until Tuesday, so was not available to extend my sympathy in person.

I will always treasure the memory of the cold winter storm of 1970 when I could not get home to Cardwell and Joan took me home as a spare daughter in the Dunn family. That visit lasted a whole week as the amount of snow crippled movement on the sideroads. It was one of the happiest weeks of highschool. Mrs. Dunn welcomed me with open arms and her big warm smile. And that’s how I’ll remember her.

Condolence from Judy (Noble) McCrea on October 30th, 2010 3:20 am

Hi Joan, Jane and family.
I was sad to hear about your mom. She was always so nice to me when we were kids growing up, up at the cottage at Wasaga, when I would go into the pharmacy and later when my family lived across the street from her on Matthew Street. Both your mom and dad always had huge smiles for us. You will have lots of great memories of many happy times. We are so sorry for your loss.
Mike and Judy
