She was a great advocate for sports and cheered on all her boys at the Bolton arena while Jerry coached the team. She and Jerry always attended all hockey dances and were very good dancers. It always seemed like they were having a ball! Her caring, warmth and smiling face will be missed. Rest in Peace Valerie!

we’re Air Force brats on the base in Dowmsview and school friends as well. Val
was so
gorgeous I tried to copy her hair style and the dresses she wore to the dances but she was the only one who could pull off the look looking fabulous. Me? I just ended up looking even more
dorkish. Thanks for the memories and all the laughs inVegas. And no Val I was not smoking in the bathroom in our suite in Vegas. RIP my friend.

Condolence from Nadine and Ross Catalli on September 1st, 2016 9:38 pm

When Val and Jerry got married, they moved in with my family. She was a wonderfully kind big sister to an awkward 10 year old. Terry was like a little brother and I loved babysitting him. Tonight I read her obituary in disbelief. Even though we didn’t see each other often, we would always just pick up the conversation as though little time had passed. I truly regret not following my inclination to call her recently, as I did not know she was ill. Val called my Mom (Alice) and told her about renovating Claudia’s apartment, said her heart was not in it. Maybe her heart knew. In her calm loving way, Val held all her family together and tucked many others under her wings as well.
To all the Grogans and all the Russels, I feel deeply for you in your grief and hope time will bring back the happy memories. Val, you were always a wonderful lady. I will miss you. Go with God to the lovely place he must have prepared for you.
With much love and sorrow,
Nadine and Ross
