Hilda & family, I’m sad to hear of Ron’s passing yesterday. I regrettably have not seen either of you in a number of years, but you are often in my thoughts. As you endure your own difficult time, try to remember the wonderful memories you all shared with family and friends.

Oh, Hilda, what a shock it is to hear the news of Ron’s death. My deepest condolences to you and Ron’s brother and family. Ron generously gave of his time to a great many people, and, in a modest and humble way. It was also evident that Ron had a keen interest in the history of things, and could be relied upon to shed light on the background of different stories he told. Always interesting. Most certainly, we will miss him in the choir and very much in the community. The world is a better place because of his presence here.

My condolences, Hilda. Ron will be extremely missed by all, and an irreplaceable part of St. Mark’s has indeed been robbed.

Condolence from Ruth Pincoe on March 6th, 2016 8:30 am

Dear Jim and Hilda
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Ron’s death a few days ago, and heard the news not only from our cousin Linda but also from several Friends in the Orangeville area who knew of Ron’s work and contribution to the community. I am heartbroken that I cannot be with you either today (no public transit from downtown Toronto to Orangeville) or for the funeral tomorrow (I need to be with David for two medical appointments — he is having chemo treatments), but I will be, as I have been for the last four days, holding you in the Light as you go through these first difficult days. Ron had a wonderful depth of caring and kindness, and, as Quakers say, he “let his life speak” wherever and however he was able. Many people will remember instances of this. I also remember his humour and lightheartedness. Nothing could be so serious that he couldn’t look up and smile. I like to think of this as a particular Pincoe characteristic, but Ron has made better and more creative use of his cheer than most of us. For now, I hold you, and the members of your extended families, in my heart. I will be with you in spirit. I also hope that in the coming weeks I might have a chance to see you. But meanwhile, know that you walk in the Light, and that you are not alone.
with love and sorrowful cheers from David as well,
Ruth Pincoe and David Peebles

Condolence from Mariana, Wayne, Andrew & Michael Ball on March 7th, 2016 3:42 pm

Hilda, as I introduced you to my daughter-in-law 2 Sundays ago, and chatted about coming to our office to get some things in order, never in our wildest nightmares did we think that a few days later Ron would be taken away. I am so very sorry for your loss !!!. It was such a shock and although no one wants a lengthy illness, this has brought tears and heartache to all those around you. Ron was a very special person who was able to influence young and old . Andrew agreed to be an altar boy because he didn’t have the heart to say NO to Ron ! And teenagers have no problem saying no to anyone !
You’re in our thoughts and prayers and Ron will be greatly missed !

Hilda, I was shocked to say the least when I heard of the passing of Ron, just a few days previous he was visiting me in hospital. We had a good chat remembering all the good times at the curling club, church and different social events we went to. We talked and laughed at length of the “different characters” we knew and shared some of those experiences with each other. Ron had a great wit about him, truly devoted and we will miss him.
God Bless my thoughts and prayers are with you

Condolence from Rick Rolfe on March 28th, 2016 11:06 am

Hilda, I’m so sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. I completely missed the sad news until I read about it in the paper.
He was a good manand gave of himself to many charitable works in our community. I will always remember his smile and gentle nature. Along with Hilda he was a perennial attendee at the Christmas Hamper Drive at Christmas,
He is now resting in the arms of Jesus. Ron truly walked in the footsteps of Jesus heeding his call to help the less fortunate.
He will be greatly missed by the entire faith community of Orangeville.
