Condolence from Krista Kinden on September 24th, 2010 6:59 pm

My heart goes out to Sonia’s family and friends. I had the honor of knowing Sonia when she worked at Headwaters Health Care Center. She was always smiling, willing to help and to share her expertise with new nurses. Please focus on her life and try not to allow her death to overwhelm you, she would want us all to remember all the wonderful things she did, not the horror of her death.

Condolence from Kim Earle on September 24th, 2010 10:23 pm

May you rest in peace beautiful angel. I moved to Orangeviile four years ago to raise my twin teenage sons in what I thought to be a safer town. I have to tell you that since Sonia went missing I have read every newspaper article and listened to every news broadcast. I also have worked in nursing for several years and your untimely death has left me numb and walking around with a very heavy heart. I only lived a few streets over from you. When you were found my collegue and I drove to the site after all police vehicles and officers had left and prayed in silence for you Never will I understand why? I can only hope that your loving family and friends can find strength in each other to carry on and in time smile when your name is mentioned and keep their cherished memories of you alive and close to their hearts. Gone but never forgotten. Fly with the angels and keep your family safe as they will need to feel you close more now than ever.

Condolence from Trissi and Gary Staden on September 24th, 2010 10:26 pm

Condolence from David Faver on September 25th, 2010 3:22 pm

There are no words to describe how the community is feeling about your loss. What a waste of a beautiful young person who had so much more to do with her life, so young i can only imagine all the good she could have done and all of the people she would have touched. Never new Sonia but feel sad and a little empty from what has happened to her. I have looked at all the pictures her laughter and smile shine though them all. All of the comments on facebook, the news, the paper she has touched so many people we have all be blessed to have her unexpectedly in our lives. We all have to think positive and remember this woman with a smile and a good thought. Not the way her life ended but the way she lived her life to the fullest, helping people with all her special skills. I would like to think of her up in heaven helping all the little ones who had to leave us far too early. In closing only thing left to say From Michael Jackson (Gone To Soon) My heartfelt condolences go out to the Varaschin family. Sonia is in every ones heart for now and for ever no one can take that away. May you find some comfort in my words. God bless from Dave soon to be a Orangeville resident.

Condolence from Carol Thompson on September 25th, 2010 3:25 pm

To Sonia’s parents, family and friends I send my deepest sympathy; my heart goes out to all of you.

I had the priviledge of working with Sonia when she nursed, early in her career, at Bloorview Kids Rehab. Her passion for paediatric nursing showed in her enthusiasm for learning, her gentle and caring approach, her sense of humour and her smile. Sonia was such a kind and helpful person which is what I will always remember about her.

I hope that your treasured memoires of Sonia provide comfort during this difficult time. Please know that many are thinking of you. May each day become easier with time.

Condolence from Harry Anderson on September 26th, 2010 2:57 pm

As I sit and drink my coffee and think of this senseless loss of life I try to put into perspective how anything like this could happen. I will leave that to the powers to be. I did not know this beautiful young lady, but I see pictures and she would light up a room with her smile. The loss is beyond anything I can imagine, but the family can try and lean on each other for support. Without a doubt you will go through some very difficult times, but always remember this lovely lady as the person she was. Time might help ease the pain, but her memory will always be able to bring out a smile in all. God bless the family, you have a angel on your shoulder.

Condolence from Diana Newton on September 30th, 2010 1:09 am

It’s difficult to find the words to offer your family on the loss of Sonia. I have such sadness for the loss of your beautiful girl. I can’t imagine how you even begin to cope with such a tragedy. Sonia was a lovely, generous, caring, fun, and wonderfully good person. We knew each other for 10 years or so and I considered her a good friend. She came out to ski with me at Whistler a couple of times, once with Viv, and I visited her on a trip I made to Ontario. We’d talk on the phone at least once a year to catch up on all our news. I was really looking forward to having more fun filled ski days with her and brother, Viv, at Whistler. Viv, please consider that you have an open invitation to visit and ski or just enjoy Vancouver with me anytime you’d like. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Diana

Dear Varaschin family

Words cannot heal the pain of losing someone so dear.
May God give you the strength to overcome the pain.

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed…
We feel lucky to have seen it.

As you danced in the light with joy,
love lifted you. As you brushed against
this world so gently, you lifted us.

Our prayers are with you.

Love

My sincerest condolences to the Varaschin family for your loss. I did not know Sonia well, but had the pleasure of spending a day skiing with her a couple of years ago, on a CSIA course. She was a very fun-loving and enjoyable person to be with.

Condolence from Pamela Davidson (Lundstedt) on October 8th, 2010 11:09 pm

My deepest condolences to the Varaschin family. I went to Humberview S.S. with Sonia and in my high school memories of Sonia she was always smiling and positive to be around; a very intelligent girl. I’m not surprised to learn that the pretty teenager
I knew grew to be such a loving woman. Her death is tragic beyond words.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family Mr & Mrs Varaschin; may you find peace in family, friends and your faith that Sonia is in a peacful, safe place. May her memory and spirit comfort you.
With deep and heatfelt sympathy
Pamela
