Zia Santina was a wonderful and remarkable mother, wife, sister, Zia and Nonna! She was kind and sweet and made the best rice balls ever! She will be greatly missed and cherished. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. RIP cara Zia Santina.

“And in the end it’s not the years in your life that count; it’s the life in your years.” – Edward J. Stieglitz

When I think of Zia Santina, this quote comes to mind, perhaps for a different reason than what most people would think about when they read the quote. For me, Zia has been instrumental in enhancing the lives of those she loved and cherished. In the years that she lived on this earth, she created memories for us that we will never forget and that we will always cherish. Memories of Christmas, of her famous lasagna, of the sauce jars, of her overall giving and loving nature. She has added life to my years, she has added life to my son’s years and she definitely added life to Tony’s short years. She is now, in bliss, pain free and with loved ones that, I’m sure, have greeted her with open arms (wings).
Nothing will ever be the same, but this is the life we are born into. We live, we love, we learn and we graduate to another life. Zia has graduated and her value will live on in our hearts, in our actions and in the stories we will continue to share until it’s our time.

Dear Rita and Tamara, your sweet Mom treated me like family, and always made me feel so welcome and valued when she invited me over for dinner, and for special occasions. I will always cherish all of the memories of those times together.
She was an amazing cook and I will especially always remember her amazing rice balls and stuffed artichokes.
We shared a love of gardening and I know I will forever feel her spirit whenever I am planting and remember her many tips.
It is truly a blessing that we had her partake in so many of our families’ special times, especially in this last year.
I will miss our conversations, her sweet, shy demeanor and the way she would say “Tommasi, mannaggia”!
I know I will forever keep her spirit beside me and remember her always until we meet again❤️
