Ron passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. After a brief hospital stay, and with the agreement of his medical team, Ron initiated his application for Medical Assistance In Dying (MAID). Being at peace with his decision, Ron spent his final days in the company of family and friends, in good spirits, enjoying visits, apple fritters, and his usual Tim Horton’s coffees.

Ron was born in Montreal, Quebec on July 24, 1935. He is predeceased by his wife, Margaret. Loving father of Kim Shirilov (Tom) and Kevin (Sarah). Cherished grandfather of Teagan and Christopher Shirilov and Joshua, Jacob and Colton Ingham. Dear brother of Caryl Wilson (predeceased). Loving Cousin, Brother-in-law, Uncle and friend.

Kim, Kevin and families…my deepest condolences in the passing of your father Ron. He was such a lovely man ….I had the privilege of dealing with him and your Mom for many years when I worked in the bank in Kleinburg. I was so glad to bump into him while walking the track at the Trisan centre within the last year. It was nice to get caught up. I hope he will rest in paradise and find peace reuniting with your Mom. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Condolence from Nancy Hopkinson on February 20th, 2026 12:19 am

I was taken aback when I heard the news that Ron had passed as I fairly recently had enjoyed the lunch and the entertainment at Ron’s table at the Schomberg United Church’s once a month event. Ron was in good spirits, although he did explain to me that he could no longer drive since his eyesight was gone. I have known Ron since he lived in Nobleton and came to Nobleton United Church. He always seemed to have a smile on his face. I also knew that he was a member of the Tim Horton’s crew in Nobleton and his coffee group continued to meet during COVID times but at the Nobleton Cemetery, bringing their own lounge chairs. This same group loved to come to Nobleton United Church’s Pasta dinner in the spring. Good for Ron to choose Maid.

Kevin and Kim, sad to hear of your dad’s passing. For a long time, Ron was a neighbor and friend. You kids played with our kids Jonathan and Jim, hockey, birthday parties ,bicycling and things probably not mentioned. I recently chatted with Ron and Kevin at Foodland shortly after his 90th birthday. Ron always had time for a chat. Our thoughts are with all the family.

Dear Kevin, Kim and family

Mom shared the sad news of your Dad’s passing.
Ron loved being your Dad because he told me more than once how blessed he felt to have such great kids.
I remember him as a kind and gentle man and your family as fantastic neighbours in Nobleton.

Please know that he will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.

Dear Kim, Kevin, and your families,

I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your father. He was such a kind and familiar presence, and I always enjoyed our small talks at the drug store whenever he came in.
I would often see him walking into Tim Hortons for his coffee with the Nobleton gang , he seemed to cherish those moments, and it was clear he valued his friendships.

He will be sadly missed by so many. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
