It is with deep sadness that we announce that Robert (Bob) Yeates passed away on October 26, 2020 after a short but courageous battle with leukemia.  He was the beloved and cherished husband of Joan for 54 years.  Much loved father and best friend to Norm and Victor.  Loving and proud grandfather of Kayla, Angelica and Alexander. Special cuddle guy to Mia, Tad and Magiver, his fur kids.  Bob was a sweet man who met his sweetheart Joan when they were teenagers.  After starting their family life in Pottageville, they moved to Nobleton with their boys where they would live for 37 years, having just moved to Rosedale Village in Brampton.  Bob was a man that cared deeply for both family and friends.  Always ready with a helping hand. Proudly served on the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force for 30 years and then Caledon Community Services ReStore would see Bob’s smile for 10 years.

Cremation has taken place as per Bob’s wishes and a private family service will be held according to Covid19 restrictions at Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Friday November 6th, followed by burial at Nobleton Cemetery at 11:45.  Friends may join the family at the cemetery.  Masks are mandatory and social distancing directives are to be respected.

Special thank you to everyone who donates blood.  Without that special gift we would have lost Bob sooner.  Know there is huge gratitude for what you do.

In lieu of flowers donation to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the Canadian Lung Association

Joan an family, I am saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. It was a pleasure to know him at CCS and to follow him as a bus driver for about ten years. I tried to walk in his footsteps and I guess I did because I was called Bob many times. Must be the absence of hair. Al Squires.

Condolence from Ryan Rogers on November 1st, 2020 7:14 am

This is terribly sad. I’ll always remember Mr. Yeates with a smile and a big a hello for me whenever we crossed paths around town. I don’t know how he heard about it, but he came to know that I was interested in learning to play guitar, and set aside a guitar and guitar case at the ReStore for me (and I barely paid more than a handshake for it!)
That’s just one little thing he did for me, someone he barely knew, and I can only imagine there are a thousand stories of little things he did for people all the time. He made a big difference in his time with us, and he’ll be remembered well. My condolences to Joan, Norman and Vic. Mr. Yeates will be missed.

I also became acquainted with Bob at 23 Division many years ago. He was certainly always a gentleman and achieved more with kindness than the usual harshness which seemed to rule the day back then. Meeting him regularly at the Bolton Restore was always a pleasure and a trip down memory lane. My heartfelt condolences to his family with your loss.

Bob was a caring and generous person. He helped furnish my first house at university, years ago, and more recently provided the means for my continued exploration of the wilderness and outdoors. Dear Joan and Family, My sincerest condolences. Bob was just a ray of sunshine and always brightened my day. I used to wonder how he could have possibly been a policeman, but having read other messages now I understand. He was just himself. Part of every conversation included the love and pride he had for his family.
