Condolence from Maggie Lawrence on March 21st, 2014 6:03 pm

Wow is all I can say, I am shocked, we just chatted last week at the store, he was so excited about his new grandbaby and was telling me about his health etc.. I am going to really miss him coming into the store everyday and harrassing me, in a good way of course and our banter back and forth to each other. Laila, my heart goes out to you and your children. I am going to miss him. Not going to be the same.

Sincere condolences to Laila, family and loved ones of Rick. I remember Rick as one of our first Peel K-9 officers when we started Regional policing. He was a very well respected Police Officer and individual over many years and together with Zues, they were an important and effective specialized Team. Rick was held in high regard, as I am sure you know and we thank you for your support of his service and policing career. Those who are taken from us too early, leave many good memories that can be kept in our hearts. We share in your loss and offer our thoughts and prayers. When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. May your family and loved ones bring you comfort in these difficult times. God Bless !

Laila, I am so sorry for your loss. I appreciated being with Rick in our recruit class and on A Platoon when we first started our careers together on Peel. He was a good friend and support and I enjoyed catching up with him over the years of our career. He always had a ready smile and a great laugh, and I enjoyed his irreverence. I imagine he was a wonderful dad and grandfather. You will miss him. He was too young.

Laila, Carlye and Michael,
In difficult and challenging circumstances as a Captain with the Caledon Fire & Emergency Services; circumstances certain to overwhelm the vast majority of people, Rick was able to provide calm, assured, effective and compassionate leadership, all the while prioritizing personnel safety. His influence on the many firefighters of Palgrave over the last 20+ years remains today, and his legacy is sure to continue for many years to come. Rick became a respected mentor and friend to most of the Palgrave firefighting staff and was greatly missed when he retired a little over a year ago. Now, the news of his passing has been an absolute shock to us!
Our thoughts and prayers go with you, during this difficult time.

I was shocked to hear of Rick’s passing. We worked together many years ago at Peel and I hold many fond memories of those times. May his memories bring peace and joy to his family. I strongly suspect Rick would have been a wonderful husband and father, as he was a Police Officer and a man.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss, and my family sends their condolences. Rick played a very important role in me becoming a Police Officer and later, a Firefighter. It was with his help and guidance that I was successful in my career aspirations. I always felt that he was someone that I could look up to, and I considered him a friend, more than just a fellow Volunteer Firefighter.
