Jivan

July 16, 1942 – April 12, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Phyllis Jeannette Jivan (née Larmour) on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at St. Norbert Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 83.

Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Ken and Jan Larmour. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her two sons, Jarrett (Lori) of Burlington, Ontario, and Tyler (Marie) of Winnipeg, Manitoba; her beloved grandchildren, Caleb and Danica, who brought her great pride and joy; her loving brother Bob (Pam) Larmour of Holland Landing, Ontario; her nephew Doug (Brenda) Larmour, her niece Karen Larmour; and her extended family as well as her colleagues and many cherished friends near and far.

Born in Ottawa on July 16, 1942, Phyllis was raised in Bolton, Ontario. After time spent traveling across Canada and the United States, and working in Ottawa and Toronto, she made Winnipeg her lifelong home. There, she raised her two sons with love and dedication while building a long and respected career in administration, first at the Victoria General Hospital and then at the St. Boniface Research Centre (now Albrechtsen Research Centre), where she worked until her retirement.

Phyllis had a generous spirit and a genuine warmth that touched everyone she met. She gave her time selflessly as a volunteer with several charities, most notably the Canadian Cancer Society. A creative soul, she found joy and friendships in antique collecting and restoration, ceramics, toll painting, and wood carving. She also loved reading, gardening, swimming, curling, bowling, and her many day trips into the countryside, camping, and spending time in nature; simple pleasures that brought her great happiness.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff and administration at St. Norbert Personal Care Home for their compassionate care, kindness, and support over the past five years.

Phyllis will be deeply missed, but her love of life, her laughter, and her kind and pioneering spirit will live on in all who knew her. The love she shared so freely will remain in the hearts of her family and friends always.

A private family service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Diabetes Canada. Condolences for the family may be offered at www.EganFuneralHome.com
