Bolton Hayes copy

August 10, 1949 – October 18, 2015

The Innocent

He thinks no evil – does no harm

His disposition is always calm

So full of love and kindness too

He only sees the good in you.

Anger, lust, they’re not real

Such normal impulses he doesn’t feel

He is innocent – This is true –

Of hate and fear and things we do.

Such perfect trust, so hard to find

Exemplifies his peace of mind

With eyes upturned and heart sincere

His thoughts may seem quite far from here.

A deeper knowledge, yet not expressed

Perhaps he’s wiser than the rest

He’s sweet and gentle, meek and mild

He was our wonderful Down Syndrome Child.

Paul passed away in his 67th year, after an extended stay at Mississauga Trillium Hospital. Paul was the loved son of the late George and Theresa (nee Curtis) Hayes. Dearest brother of the late Gerry Hayes, Arlene and Ben Joosten, and will be dearly missed by his sisters and their spouses, Theresa and Trevor Metcalfe, Lori and Peter Braun. Paul was loved by his many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a great, great niece. Paul lived for many wonderful years at Hobden and Elmcrest group homes, and was cared for by many caring and thoughtful people. He attended ETS Workshops run by Community Living Association for over 40 years and never wanted to miss a day. Paul also loved to listen to his music, and participate in the “Tri-Hards Bowling League”. We will all miss him so much.

If you wish, remembrance donations can be made to Community Living Association, 2 Spadina Road, Toronto M5R 2S7. Cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton on Sunday afternoon, October 25 from 1 – 3 o’clock.

Paul was a very kind, gentle and sweet man. I will forever remember Paul when I hear Christmas music or watch a Disney movie. I am greatful for the years I was privileged to spend with Paul at Elmcrest and the memories that were made. My deepest condolences to his family who loved him so much. Paul spoke often to me about his family and loved to share his pictures of time spent with them. He took special pride in sharing pictures of the youngest members in the family. I will miss his goodnight hug the most.

My Uncle Paul was so very bright in so many ways. He always had a smile and loved to compliment me every time I saw him. A beautiful heart and sweet sense of humor. As mentioned Christmas music and Princesses were some of his favorite things. Sweet dreams Paul .

Paul always brought a smile to my face during our years together at ETS York and ETS Etobicoke.
He was very meticulous and took great pride in his work.
He enjoyed showing me photographs of his family and his score card from bowling on the weekend.
Heaven has certainly gained an Angel. My sincerest sympathy to the family.
