Condolence from John and Xenia on February 24th, 2025 11:10 am

Losing a good, longtime friend means we are losing part of our own life. It is sad and it is painful. Otakar was a hard working, self-disciplined, persistent and purposeful man.
He was a good sportsman, a good musician and amazing handyman. He loved good company and humor, he was always ready to laugh. We believe that at his new destination he will be appreciated, welcomed and loved as he was always among us.

Dear George and Peter,
It has been a very long time since we’ve seen each other last, some time in 1978. I heard about your Dad and I am sorry for your loss. I know how it is as I lost both my parents now as well. I will be thinking about you both on Thursday. If you ever need somebody to talk to, I am here for you.

I am thinking of you during this difficult time and sending lots of hugs and prayers to you, Evi and the whole family.

Otiku, RIP …

Condolence from Chris Mariner (Ostercil) on February 25th, 2025 1:23 pm

Dear Jiri (George) and Peter (and your families).

You may not remember me, but we were neighbours and childhood friends, when you lived on Newlin Crescent.

I remember your dad, like yesterday. He was strong, helpful, always smiling. I remember him taking us skating and trying to teach me how to skate…. I still can’t skate very well 🙂 I remember times in your backyard, with the fire pit he built out back, and all the great music he had in his collection. I remember your cat, Lady, who would jump and sit on his shoulder. Those are wonderful memories.

I’m sure he was also a wonderful grandfather.

You moved away one summer, and I’ve hoped for years to reconnect with you somehow.

My deepest sympathies on your loss. May your sadness now fade away to happy memories. Know that he will always be with you, watching over you and caring for you.

Your old-time friend, hoping to hear from you again.

Chris Ostercil ( now Chris Mariner)

Honzákovi
Upřimnou soustrast celé rodiné
Kalina-Urbanových .
Ota byl náš dlouholetý kamarád Jury z gymnázia. Všichni jsme ho měli rádi pro jeho veselou povahu. Prožili jsme s ním řadu nádherných setkání a úžasných dovolených. Na to budeme vděčně vzpomínat. Věříme, že se Ota už setkal s Jurou “Tam u nebeskýho báru…” jak spolu zpívávali.
Myslíme na vás a jsme s vámi smutní

Condolence from Jim Berry on February 27th, 2025 8:35 am

Although we lost touch due to me working abroad, I fondly remember working with Otakar on a variety of projects, as well as his picture taking skills at Hatch parties. He was an excellent engineer with high standards in all he did. Our thoughts to his family at this sad time.
