Dear Ross, Steve and Families
So sorry to hear about the passing of Walter. He was a great guy. We enjoyed his company and conversations at the O.P.A conventions. My mom and dad, Jim & Edna Johnston, stood up with them at their wedding. Our parents visited quite a lot back and forth when we were kids and there are a lot of great memories. He will be truly missed.

Condolence from Laurie Davis Foster on January 31st, 2022 4:28 pm

Walter had a wonderful sense of humor. I remember the rehearsal dinner, the evening before Ross and Barb were to be married at the Terra Cotta Inn. We were sitting at the table, waiting for Walter and Marguerite to join us. We waited, waited and waited. When they finally arrived, Walter explained that he had had a zipper failure and Marguerite had to sew him into his pants. Everyone laughed heartily! We all felt sympathy for Walter that evening as he could not enjoy any cocktails given his special situation. It is a rare person who can carry off such a happening with the aplomb that Walter did. The Davis family felt that Walter was indeed a part of our gang. So sorry for your loss.

Condolence from Cathy Gasparini on February 1st, 2022 7:48 am

Our condolences go out to the McCabe family. We will remember Walter with the fondest of memories. Walter was a true gentleman and always interested in how you were doing. My Mom and Dad (Ken and Marg Hodgson) were life long best friends with Walter and Marguerite. They did a lot of travelling together. One of those was a tent trailer road trip to the West Coast back in the late 70’s. They came to visit us on their way. We will always remember touring Lake Louise with the 4 of them and going back to the campsite enjoying Walter’s company and a rye and water. Mom and Dad always told us girls, we don’t bicker we just always get along. That kind of friendship is special and to be cherished.
RIP Walter
It is 5 o’clock somewhere with Marguerite and your dear old friends

Condolence from Alan Belcher on February 3rd, 2022 8:27 pm

Our condolences to Ross and Steve. My memories of Walter, Marguerite, Ross and Steve go back to 1955. Memories of a team of horses pulling a binder and hay wagon with no one on the reins, just a gee and a haw from Walter’s calm voice was all they needed. He was an outstanding example of a good father, husband and neighbor. We hope he passed in peace.
