Peacefully at Brampton Civic Hospital, on Tuesday December 6, 2016, Muriel Drever Reinhart Shoebottom (nee Rigg), in her 99th year, lovingly surrounded by her family. Predeceased by husbands Wilfred Reinhart and Robert Shoebottom. She is the loving mother of Ruth and Butch Davis, Roy and Madge Reinhart, Lynda and Owen Rogers, Patty Docherty, and John and Nancy Reinhart. Lovingly remembered by cherished grandchildren Angie, Brenda, John, Natalie and Tim Davis; Judy, Jennifer and Steven Reinhart; Ryan, Scott and Alanna Rogers; Derek Docherty ;Tiffany and Maegan Reinhart; great-grandchildren Corinne, Tom and Dani Atkinson ; Madyson and Greer Ellis; Jake, Jordon and Laine Dangerfield; Sarah, Joshua, Mathew and Rachael Teabow; Alex and Jessie Reinhart; Sullivan and Felix Rogers; Naomi Rogers; Maya and Dawson Craig; Frances Greidanus; and great-great-grandchildren, Isaac and Benjamin Teabow. Muriel was predeceased by sisters and brothers Verden Rigg, Ada Sparrow, Peggie Cartlidge, Bill Rigg, Doug Rigg and Eleanor Litt. Muriel led such a full and eventful life. Born after the First World War and an adult during the Second World War, she was witness to great change. From the Model T-Ford of her childhood to the Tesla self drive now. She had boundless energy and always worked hard at every task from building the family home and cottage, as well as working with Wilf in the appliance business that they ran for many years. Later in life when the opportunity arose for Muriel, she grasped at the opportunity to accomplish her qualification as a Registered Nurses Assistant. The years working at Alexander and Marine Hospital in Goderich were very fulfilling an absolute dream profession for her. Muriel was never idle. As a young woman she swam in the Avon River at Stratford, sang in the church choir ( that lasted well into her 80’s), loved sewing, knitting, crochet, bowling, curling, playing cards, leader of the Girl Guides and a member of St. Peter’s Church CWL. Countless hours were spent in designing and sewing costumes for the Goderich Little Theater. But what she loved most was visiting and caring for the grandchildren, teaching them to play cards, cooking, and swimming. Whenever a concert was being performed by the children, she was there. Muriel treasured these times together, and told them many stories of her life growing up. As adults these children continue now to retell her stories to their children. So life goes on.

The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy.50), Bolton (905-857-2213) Saturday morning, December 10 from 9:30 until time of leaving funeral home at 10:30 for a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 16066 The Gore Road, Caledon East at 11 o’clock.

Ruth, Roy, & Families. I am so sorry for your loss. My mother was Bernice (Reinhart) Hopf and was your father’s cousin. When you lived in Stratford on Brunswick St. we were across the road on Bay St. Don’t know if either of you will remember. I saw your mother’s obituary on Stratford’s site and it brought back the memories of that time….and so much time has passed! I wanted to express my sympathies to you & your family…..My thoughts & prayers are with you at this time.
