We moved into the Bell property beside Mildred, in August of 1993. Mildred was the best neighbour, and later friend, that anyone could ask for. She baked us delicious apple pies every Binder Twine. She gave our daughter practical pyjamas every Christmas, “…because I’m sure she has enough silly toys already”. She always came to our common fence for a chat when we were both outside working in our gardens, a passion we both shared. She was honest, direct, no-nonsense, strong, determined, independent, intelligent, hard-working and a very good judge of people and their character. She and Sammy were devoted to each other. We shall miss her. It was a privilege to know her and to have her as a fine neighbour for 15 years. Our condolences to her family and friends. Marie-Louise, Manfed & Monique Kalthoff
