MAY 4, 1950 – DECEMBER 1, 2025

CALEDON, ONTARIO

In his 75th year, Michael passed away surrounded, and comforted by his loving family at the Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga, on Monday, December 1, 2025.

How fitting for him to be back where he started his 53 years of marriage with his beloved wife Donna.  Proud, loving and wonderful father to Lauren Malcolm (John Malcolm) and Tyler O’Brien.  Cherished Grandfather to Austin Malcolm.  Dear brother to Patrick (deceased) ( Carolyn O’Brien), Marianne Newlove (Fred) (deceased)  and Kathleen Waldhausen (Paul). Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Michael was an avid skier, and spent some time sharing and teaching disabled youths to ski with Ontario Track III.  He loved the game of golf and was fortunate to enjoy this sport once retired.

Michael was a successful and respected business entrepreneur within the Wholesale Florist industry for over 30 years. Then the highlight of his life was having the opportunity to enjoy his retirement working for Copper Creek as well as playing the course.

Michael was a loyal, gentle, fair, talented  and a loving man with every hat he wore.  He has left a big hole in many hearts and will be missed by all those that knew and loved him.

He was a real trouper to the challenges that Lewy Body threw at him, until the disease conquered his body, spirit and mind.

The family would love to share fond memories of our dear Michael at a casual gathering on Monday, December 8th, between 1 – 3 pm at Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South (Hwy 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) Ontario, L7E 2C6.

Donations are welcomed in Michael’s name to the alzheimercanada.donorsupport.co Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, or your favourite charity.

Condolence from Gail Milliron on December 4th, 2025 10:04 pm

I always admired Mike for his patience, and thoughtfulness. He always took pride in his ability to help others. Donna, Lauren, & Tyler I know you will miss the great father & husband he was. I had sincerely hoped to pay my respects and support to my sister and her family at his ‘celebration of life’, setting aside time to be there at this busy time of year. It is unfortunate that could not be the case. Family is very important to me and will always deeply cherish the love I have for my sister.
My condolences.

Donna, Lauren and Tyler. So sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts.

I have the loveliest memories of Mike. Nothing was more exciting than Mike’s visits to our house when he had flower deliveries in Northumberland! Matt and I would look forward to those visits all throughout our childhood. Mike brought endless energy, fun and laughter! Everyone was in good spirits when Mike was around.

The friendship that Mike and my dad had remains a model for me of how friendship can endure all the ages and stages of life!

Sending love and care.
