BARRY web

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael John Patrick Barry. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who left us peacefully on Thursday, October 31st 2024.

Michael’s life was a testament to love, kindness, and unwavering compassion.

Michael graduated from Concordia University, Loyola College with a BSc in physics and was a lifetime member of the Toronto Illuminating Engineering Society.

Born in Montreal, Michael grew up in Westmont where already in his youth was an avid skier, biker, golfer and outdoorsman. His warm smile and gentle spirit could light up any room, and he had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel seen and valued.

As a husband to his beloved wife, Aldonna, the love of his life, they created a home filled with laughter, love, and joy. He cherished his son, Adrian and daughter-in-law, Nasira, and his daughter Danielle.  His beautiful grandchildren Brooke, Haley, Shaan-E-Abbas, Asher and Hart will hold his memory dear forever.

Michael also leaves behind his beloved younger brother, Charles, his sisters Eileen and Sheilah, his pre-deceased youngest sister Shirley, and his dear nephews Gordon Jr, Christopher and Kevin.

In addition to his family, Michael had a loving circle of friends with whom he enjoyed sharing stories, a great beer, bonfire sing alongs and unforgettable hiking, canoeing, flying and biking adventures.

He was always ready to lend a listening ear or offer a helping hand. His ability to empathize and support others in times of trouble was a gift that he shared freely.

As we remember Michael, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by kindness and generosity. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him and loved him.

Private Funeral Service will take place on Monday morning, November 11 from 9:30am until the service begins at 10 o’clock. Followed by a reception.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to Make-A-Wish Canada, 4211 Yonge Street, Suite 301A, Toronto M2P 2A9.

We are very sorry to hear of Michael’s passing. We are grateful that we had the opportunity to say goodbye to Michael before he passed. We will all miss Michael very very much. It is never easy to lose a sibling in death, but it is especially difficult to lose a loving husband of 45+ years of marriage. Michael was a wonderful person, husband, father and brother. Everyone loved him dearly. I want to thank you Aldonna for your many hours of devotion, and loyalty to Michael throughout his life and during his illness. Michael is now resting peacefully. We look forward to the time when we will all be reunited with him to welcome him back. He will be dearly missed by every heart he touched. We love you Micheal.
