Ps103:13-18 ESV

As a father shows compassion to his children,

so the Lord show’s compassion to those who fear him.

For He knows our frame,

He remembers that we are dust.

As for man, his days are like grass,

He flourishes like a flower of the field,

for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,

and its place knows it no more.

But the steadfast love of the Lord

is from everlasting to everlasting

on those who fear him,

and His righteousness to children’s children,

to those who keep his covenant

and remember to do his commandments.

The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) Thursday evening, April 5 from 5 – 8 o’clock.

Marinus was more than just someone I had the privilege of giving personal care to…he was a great dad who always talked about his Darlene wife oma and the kids. He was quiet for most of the time but when he would say something u would laugh. I remember my first night with him and looking at the gate sign I instantly knew God is in the house. He was always there because they show what the love of God is. We often sing this song on a hill far away stood an old rugged cross. His last word to me was I want to go home I ask him where is home he said there is only one home. What a time to go home may his soul rest in the arms of Jesus. Family I pray for your strength

He was always very close to my heart, as well as Gerda. They welcomed me into their home just like I was ‘their own’. Heaven gained another Godly saint- to this we are very grateful in knowing he is in the presence of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Thinking and praying for the whole family. Love you all very much!!

He was my Dad. I loved him deeply and he gave me some of the best memories I have to this day. Listening to him play the harmonica and reading to us from the Bible. I remember that smile he would give me even when I was naughty. He gave the best hugs and could comfort just by being in the same room with you. Thank you for being there when I needed you most. Now you are with the angels singing in the heavens. God Bless! I look forward to the day we meet again.

Dear Gerda, children and grandchildren,
Our deepest sympathy with the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. Marinus and I met for the first time about 60 years ago upon his arrival in Toronto from the Netherlands. He was a truly gentle, humble and God fearing man. He liked to take long walks and feel the presence of God in fields and forests. Truly a man of peace, a blessing for all who knew him.
“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” Math.5:8
