Marilyn Margaret West, beloved mother to Jennifer MacLaren and Christopher West, Nana to Emily & Connor MacLaren and to Jackson & Georgia West, and mother-in-law to Gord MacLaren & Amanda West, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10th in her 90th year. Predeceased by her parents Clarence and Rosalie Mott, and her brother Father John Mott.
She was a devoted mother whose love and strength shaped the lives of all who knew her. Marilyn had a generous heart and a quiet grace, always putting family first and offering warmth, wisdom, and encouragement to those around her. She found joy in knitting, reading and was fond of anything airing on the Turner Classic Movie (TCM) channel. Marilyn happily enjoyed her retirement from teaching for the TDSB at her beloved cottage in Thunder Beach where she was happiest watching the hummingbirds and enjoying the peace and quiet.
Her presence and quiet disposition brought subtle peace, comfort and eventual laughter into every room. She loved her family very much and is now with her soul-mate Alfred (Ted), father to Jennifer & Christopher.
Marilyn is lovingly remembered by all her family and friends. Her legacy of strength, love, resilience, thoughtfulness and compassion will live on through her family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring at a location to be determined shortly. To receive details regarding the celebration email westmarilyn2026@gmail.com.
